Hi All . Sorry for my silly question.. I am on day 17 of Buserelin and my Baseline scan is next Tuesday :-) Am I okay to have a flu jab ? Most of the time I'm okay after having it but sometimes get a cold/ flu symptoms . Should I wait until my treatment is over ? Hope your all okay at whatever stage you are at.. xxx

Hi. Wizzleandmolly. Not a silly question at all! The flu jab used in the UK is prepared from an inactivated virus and there is no evidence that it's harmful to unborn babies, so you will be OK to have it while undergoing your IVF cycle. Studies have also shown that the flu vaccine can be safely and effectively given during any trimester of pregnancy. The vaccine does not carry risks for either the mother or baby. In fact, studies have shown that mothers who have had the vaccine while pregnant pass some protection to their babies, which lasts for the first few months of their lives. Obviously, mention it to your clinic, but I think they will agree. Good luck with the rest of your cycle. Diane

My pleasure, and don't worry either should you get any mild flu-like symptoms after. I've just had mine and it was fine! Diane

I'm usually absolutely fine, may have on the odd occasion had a cold, but that may have been a coincidence anyway :-) I'm just worried that if I was unwell the clinic may cancel my treatment.. Like my husband always says don't worry about it until it has actually happened lol . Once again many thanks for your reply ..

Hi. It's often the little things that worry us the most. If you get any symptoms, just stick to extra fluids, paracetamol and good old-fashioned lemon & honey. Diane
