Hey Hun fab news! Exciting times.
I'm private too as hubby has a child from a previous relationship. It is a lot of money in which ultimately we all pray it works 1st time round & pray for that special moment when you can tell everyone you're pregnant. So far so good it's worked for me 1st time round. Awaiting the 12 week scan anxiously!
I didn't have any counselling hun but that's not to say I wouldn't recommend it. I didn't feel the need as have great friends and an awesome hubby to talk too when I'm up and down. This forum is also very good too.
I've been through the ups and downs & felt I could have a good old rant on here when needed.
One thing I would say is if you feel you need help don't be afraid to ask!
Wishing you lots of luck hun. Xx
Hi, I think whether you feel counselling is beneficial is entirely your call. I spoke to someone and it was a huge benefit to me but, not everyone finds it necessary esp if your family and friends are providing support (mine have been hopeless but that's another story!!) What's important is that you relax as best you can before treatment. It's not always easy - I know!
Good luck. I can understand how much you must want this, not just for yourself, but for your little girl too x
We're also private and I had similar thought about the what if it doesn't work and we've spent all this money. Our first round didn't work and we've just started our second round. The chances of it happening naturally for us are extremely low so ICSI is our probably only option to have a child that's biologically ours, it was a no-brainer.
Counselling might be useful, we get a 'free' session included in the price. My hubby didn't take to the lady so we didn't continue with it at £80 an hour.
Follow the advice of your clinic as they are the experts. Ask questions if you're not sure.
The support on this website is really great too.
Good luck!
Ah that must have been so hard for you, was it Ivf or icsi last time? Yes we get three counselling sessions included in our price and don't know if to use it or not. Don't know how they will help really!! I really hope it all works out for you, what stage are you at with your icsi? Keep us update please so exciting for everyone! X x
It was ICSI last time too, the disappointment of it not working was very difficult. Egg collection is booked for Monday. I really hope it works this time too.
As you get counselling included it might be worth booking a session to see if it's helpful. We 'saved' ours and had it after the cycle failed.
That's what I'm thinking of doing keeping it til the end because if it does fail I will need the support then!!! I'm so excited for you on Monday!!! Are you being put to sleep? Are you using the same clinic as the first time, did u have a feeling I would or wouldn't work before you started treatemnt the first time? X x
The clinic does the EC under general anaesthetic and it'll be the same anaesthetist and he was really good, my previous experience of GA wasn't too great. We're at the same clinic as we're very happy with the service and support.
I obviously really hoped the first round would be successful, especially as every stage went as expected. We only got 2 viable embryos so nothing left to freeze so we had to start again from the beginning. The consultant wasn't able to give any particular reason for the failure. This time we're using the short protocol and they may freeze embryos and wait several months to implant but we'll have to see what happens next week.
