So I've taken three lots of ibruphen for period pain whilst having fertility treatment.... Don't think I should have taken it!! I was on day 10 yesterday of buserelin when I took it - will it affect my treatment anyone know please? X x

Hi Lucyireland26. Ibuprofen and paracetamol are the preferred anti-inflammatory/pain killers to take during and after fertility treatment, so I would try not to worry. Just make sure that you have some food before you take ibuprofen, as it can upset your stomach - and stick to the recommended amounts. Good luck with the rest of the cycle. Diane

Ah thank you so much, I wasn't that worried about it until I googled it then..... You know what it's like you read all sorts, I suffer with endometriosis so it was rather painful but think the worst is over, why does everyone seem to think ibruphen should be avoided do you know? Really appreciate your comment thanks again!! X x

Hi. Best to steer clear of them in the long term, but they are often used just for a few doses. If you think you need to take them for longer, then speak to your GP first. Diane

I rang my clinic about this the other day. As I am now taking menopur they say I must NOT take ibuprofen as it can interfere with the drug. I would speak to your nurse to confirm your person situation.

Thanks Hun I was on buserelin and haven't even started menopur put just yet!! I did ask the nurse today just to confirm what I had already been kindly advised and yes it's not so much of a problem on buserelin but not advised on Menopur! Hope yours is all going well x x
