I was hoping someone would have some experience/advice to share. I have just found out that my AMH is 0.5 and I am no longer eligible for NHS treatment as their cut off point is <2. My last AMH was last Nov and it was <3 (although these were done at different labs).
They have given me the option of private treatment using DHEA for 12 weeks prior to IVF with the aim of improving the AMH.
Has anyone used or have similar experiences?

Hi nellynel. Regarding treatment with Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) it is still in its early days. Women with reduced ovarian reserve have been given 75 mgs of this drug a day, in divided doses of 25 mgs 3 times a day for around 2 months, been found to respond better to stimulation during IVF. You would need to discuss this thoroughly with your consultant regarding the potential side effects. A 41 yr old lady I spoke with just recently has had treatment with DHEA after several failed attempts at IVF/ICSI and she has just had 8 eggs retrieved after apparently only ever managing 2-3 per cycle. She used it for 2 months. I do wish you well with whatever you decide. Diane
HI didn't use it as what they didn't tell me at first was that it can affect your BP pressure. I have been treated for high BP in the past (no longer on meds) but decided not to risk it plus there were other side effects. I was started on the highest dose drugs. Still got 7 eggs, 5 fertilised and all went to blastocyst stage so I think I made the right decision.
Don't worry though, im sure they will monitor you etc and its worth trying. the clinic we went with didn't advocate its use so another reason for us to not use it
Let me know how you get on but better to send me a personal message as the site is linked to my partners emails so I don't get notifications
