I'm due to start the highest dose of stims (450 iui) in next few weeks, my AMH is 3.9, so its low! Just wondering if this has worked for anyone or if this was too much for already low activity ovaries? Am concerned the Drs are trying treatment which is maybe too aggressive? Im grateful for any experiences shared x

Hi, congrats on starting your cycle. Such an exciting time 😊
I had an AMH of 5 and I was put on 400ui of Menopur. I responded really well. 9 eggs collected, 7 mature and 7 fertilised. I felt the same at the beginning since they told me the dose for a woman my age should be 275ui but I trusted their judgement and it worked.
Wow that's a brilliant response, you must be so happy with that. Please can I ask was this short or long protocol that you tried? Also, can i ask your age? Reason I asked is I had my long protocol cycle cancelled as I didn't respond well at all so I'm hoping short is going to give me the results I need x
I’m on Merional 450 iu, I went for my first scan on Friday after taking the medication for 8 days. I was told follicles are small 😔(was around 8,9,10 & 12). Going back tomorrow for another scan.
I had 8 follicles on my first scan between 5mm and 12mm. My scan just before egg collection on day 12 i had 17 follicles between 4mm and 19mm so there is always hope. Keeping thinking positively and I really hope your scan goes well tomorrow. Keep us updated 🤞 x
That's so strange. I have the same age my amh 2.8 or 0.4 and didn't react at all to 450 ui menopur. Follies gré 1mm per day and only had 3,fewer than without stims. So got canceled after 7 days. Am I doomed?
Definitely not. This is my first go and I have been told that it is a bit of trial and error as everyone responds differently to each drug so they will perhaps try something different next time. Don't give up x x
Hi there, my AMH was low and I was on 450ml per day and we were lucky that we got 7 eggs, only 4 fertilised, 4 made to day 5, but only one good, one ok. 2 put in and now 24 weeks pregnant with a girl. Good luck!
Hey, I have AMH of 2.4, was put on long protocol with 300iu of Menopur. I am 29. I have responded, but slowly. I stimmed for 17 days in total. Due to have my egg collection tomorrow and I have 7 follicles between 9 and 22mm when last scanned one Wednesday xx
I’m low AMH and poor responder (42 this year). My first cycle, the Dr prescribed 450iu to me and it didn’t do much. That cycle was eventually cancelled. Then after another failed cycle, I decided to take more control. I googled a lot and started to believe that high dosage may not work for women over 40 and low AMH. So, I changed my doctor. The new doctor was more open minded and willing to discuss and apparently she also did a lot of research in this area and she agreed with me. Since then, I had been on 150, 175 and max 200. I think each cycle, the results are similar, which led me to believe that high dosage doesn’t help much. This is my personal opinion and experience. Maybe I m just not responding to the stimulation. You should try one cycle and then based on the observations, discuss with your doctor.
Mine is low but not that low and I got much better results with much less aggressive treatment - I’m 12 weeks with twins from the cycle where we only went after 2 follicles and hardly had any stims but both became top quality blastocysts x
1st: 150ius Bemfola. 3 even sized follicles for collection.... 2 good eggs...2 good embryos... resulted in my six month old little boy.
2nd: 300ius Bemfola. 2 odd sized follicles for collection....1 poor quality egg.... 1 surprisingly good embryo.... BFN.
I agree with ivfgotadream. I think I do better with low dose so that’s what we are doing for round 3. Everyone is different though and the IVF game unfortunately seems to be all about trial and error. Best of luck 💪🏻✨Xx
Thanks, based on all of these different responses you're right I guess we just have to hang in there and keep going until the right dosage/protocol works. I was on 375 iui and long protocol before for my cancelled cycle so I'm hoping 450 and short is going to work better for me. I realky hope your next cycle is more positive too x
Hi! I was relatively ‘young’ (32/33) with an amh of 3.5. I was on a short protocol at high dose of Menopur (300 first try and 350 second try). My doctor said there is not much difference between 350 and 450 according to the scientific literature.
The first try was cancelled due to no response (only one follicle) and we were devastating thinking that was it for us. The second try I had 8 follicles and 5 eggs that all fertilised and we got 4 good quality embryos.
Just wanted to say that it doesn’t work for everyone but cycles can also vary month to month. A high dose did work for us but not at first.
I have low AMH too, it was last tested when I was 38 and came back at 1.4. I tried short protocol which created one egg which failed to fertilise. I then attempted another short for 5 attempts, every time failed no response and cycle cancelled. Then a long protocol produced 3 poor quality eggs, no luck again. After a chat with the embryologist & facing the harsh reality that my eggs were not only low in numbers but quality too, I moved to donor eggs. This is a very different journey then I’d ever have imagined but I am currently 6 weeks pregnant and hope so badly this will be our time.
You won’t know how you’ll respond until you’ve done the protocol. We are all different. Never give up hope. Wishing you the very best.
Hi Jenny, thank you so much for sharing your story and congratulations on your pregnancy! Thank you, I am going to keep going, I won't give up either..onto the next protocol! x
Hi. I am from Romania, so clinic protocols and doctor approaches may be different.
I had an AMH of 0.94 at 39 years. Did one cycle. They put me on short protocol with minimum dose of menopur (75) which was increased towards the end (not the highest dose). I have one ovary, got 5 follicles and 5 mature eggs, 4 fertilized, got 2 5-day blasts. I transfered one blast and have now a baby
