Low AMH and IVF

I'm 27 and my AMH levels is 4.7pmol/l, AFC was 11 in March and I have one blocked fallopian tube.

I am devastated

Has anyone had any success stories with low amh and IVF?

I’m sorry to hear about your results not being what you’d like. I had my tests at 27 and they were also low.

I can tell you that on my first cycle (short protocol) I managed to get 7 mature eggs, 4 of those fertilised normally and then 3 went onto blastocysts. Out of those 3 I had a pregnancy (second transfer) which did sadly end at 10 weeks. But it made me realise that although my AMH and AFC weren’t what I would have liked there is still a chance for me because it really is a case of quality over quantity (cheesy I know).

I know I cannot fully reassure you but I hope I can give you a little hope.

Take care xxx

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage! I can't even imagine the pain you must be feeling

Thank you for sharing your experience, this has given me hope!

I too have heard it's about quality over quantity, so fingers crossed! Xxx

Hi there,

Keep your head up. My AMH was .4, I was 36 and had my left Fallopian tube removed due to blockage. After two rounds of IVF I have a 6 month old snuggled on my chest sleeping. With your age and numbers there is still plenty of hope for you! ❤️

in reply toUnicornKisses

Oh that's amazing news! Congratulations on your baby! That's given me hope, thank you! 🥰

in reply toUnicornKisses

Did you do conventional or mild/natural IVF?

In two minds about what route to go xx

Oh love, mine is 4.4 and I’ve just had my first transfer. My friend though had an AMH of 1.9 when she was 28/29 and has a little girl who is now 3 and then tried again with an AMH of 1.1 and she’s currently 7 weeks pregnant 🥰🥰 even though the numbers are low they’re not the worst and you have age on your side. For me I’m 37 was on long protocol, had 8 follicles on my baseline, then had 4 that matured with stimms, 3 eggs, 1 was immature and the other abnormal, 1 embryo that ended up being a grade 1 💖

in reply toJudithSS

Oh that's great to hear! Really hope you get your BFP! ❤

Did your friend have conventional or mild/natural IVF? Xx

Hi I had an AMH of 5.4 at 32. On egg collection at 33 they collected 6 eggs. 5 were mature, all fertilised with ICSI and all 5 made it to good blastocysts. Quality is as important as numbers and at your age quality should be good! Good luck xx

Thank you! That's a amazing result! Did you do conventional or mild/natural IVF? X

Conventional IVF. That was my 2nd round. My first was about 9 months before and I got 5 eggs but only 1 fertilised and a 2 day transfer ended in BFN. Before my 2nd round I took 3 months of vitamin D, Ubiquinol and tried to follow a low carb/high-ish protein diet and I think that resulted in better quality eggs.

in reply toBerryandblush

Good to know thanks! I've been taking prenatal vitamins, coq10, omega 3 and a bunch of others for the last month so hopefully that helps! Thanks for your advice ❤

No problem 😊. And remember as difficult as it is, you have age on your side. Good luck!

Absolutely! My 1 week old daughter is proof it can be possible! I was 36 and had amh of 3.9 when I did short protocol. We managed to get 3 embryos out of 7 follicles collected....1 resulted in my daughter 😀 and we have the other 2 currently in the freezer. It's much more about egg quality than the amount. I strongly advise short protocol for low amh...My first attempt at long protocol had to be abandoned. Best of luck x x

Hello what is the difference between shorty and long protocol? Xx

in reply to24hopefuls

That's amazing! Congratulations! Is short protocol the same as mild IVF? Xx

Hi, I’m sorry to hear this, however I wanted to share my story. I was 32 and had very very low amh, from what I can remember I think it was around 2 (maybe lower) on my one and only try with IVF I managed to get 4 eggs, 1 died and 3 went to 5 day blastocysts. Of those 3 embryos 2 have resulted in my 4 year old and now 3 week old son. I’ve been very lucky and my beautiful babies are miracles. Keep the faith it only takes one good good egg xx

in reply toPittuck23

Oh that's so amazing! Did you do conventional IVF or mild/natural? Xx

I’m not even sure what the mild natural conventional ivf methods are tbh! I had medication injections, using menopaur progesterone and a million other tablets then a fresh transfer. Sorry I couldn’t be more clearer!xx

in reply toPittuck23

No worries! Thanks for explaining! I'm pretty sure you did the conventional IVF as with that you're taking injections for about 10-14 days if I'm correct x

Hi Lilly, I've just stepped onto the hamster wheel of IVF. I'm 34, my AMH is 2.5, my AFC is 4 :( I was crushed when I heard they were so low. They also have found 2 ovarian cysts.

I'm awaiting my plan.

Fingers crossed 🤞xx

in reply toFlossybubble

It really is crushing but there's hope! All it takes is one egg! I'm trying to stay positive and keep reminding myself of that. Reading all these lovely ladies success stories has got me feeling hopeful! I pray we get our happy ending 🙏🏻 xxx

Me too! Today I spoke on the phone with my consultant, he said the chances of even getting 1 egg are slim, 1 to 2% and asked of I would consider donor eggs.I'm choosing to still opt for my own egg, I feel that's right for me at the moment.

Miracles can happen ✨

in reply toFlossybubble

I would definitely try before thinking of donor eggs. I've seen people with less than 1 amh get a couple eggs. Good luck xxx

Hi had a successful ivf with amh of 5, two years ago. And have found my sf natural pregnant 20 months after that treatmentNt. So it's more than possible. Good luck.

Hi Lilly. Thanks for sharing your results with this group and sorry to hear its not the news you wanted. Can relate how devastating it feels

Youre not alone in this. I too am at the beginnings of IVF. I'm 36 had follicle count of 7 and my AMH 1. Feels very deflating and scary to think chances of even getting 1 egg are lower than others.

Your post though and looking at other peoples experiences do give hope and I know it can feel hopeless at times, but I'm really trying to keep strong and think 'why wouldn't it work with the IVF route'

I was advised to proxeed for women and DHEA however there is little evidence these make any difference. But anything is worth a try in this emotional roller coaster of an IVF journey.

All the best in your treatment, keep the hope.

Xx

Hi Hun.

My AMH is 3.9 and also was thinking of getting proxeed. Did it work for you ? Xx

in reply toMadeline_1986

Hi madeline. There is deffo hope out there, I responded really well to the stims drugs alongside taking proxeed and DHEA.

At my first scan there was 13 follicles and 2nd scan 6 of those were a super size. All the staff were pleasantly surprised to say my AMH was so low.

At egg retrieval they got 5 eggs.

I cant be sure whether it was the proxeed or DHEA or the entire combination of everything together but personally I'd say it's deffo worth a try to take the supplements.

Good luck to you, I know a low AMH feels crappy but there's still loads of hope out there for you. All the best. X

Hi Hun. Thank you so much for your reply. You gave me a hope😍

Where did u buy DHEA?

Xx

in reply toMadeline_1986

I bought them online from Biovia. I've attached a photo to this message for you to look at. My consultant advised I take 75mg daily so I took 25mg 3 times a day.

Hope that helps :)

I would say just not about your amh levels. Your a good age to have some good quality eggs even though the quantity is low. I would start straight away if you can afford it. Maybe look at going abroad its so much cheaper xxx

Hi there, my AMh was 4.6, I only got three eggs of which one became a good quality embryo, but happy to say I’m now 16 weeks pregnant! The cliches are true - it only takes one. I read ‘it starts with the egg’ and did as much as I could to ensure the egg quality was good - hope it all goes well for you xx
