After two rounds of ivf we had our beautiful daughter 10months ago and to our complete shock I got pregnant naturally with an amh of 1.24pmol/l.Went for a private scan last wk and baby measuring a week behind what I thought I would be(7 weeks)Although periods irregular since I had my daughter I know when I last did the deed.Midwife(private scan) was not concerned said everything looked great and heartbeat good.Today I had another scan with my consultant this time and baby measuring the same but with heartbeat still there.Last scan was by ultra sound and this scan internal. He said to him its a viable pregnancy and you can't compare the 2 scans(ultrasound to internal)but it was a bit concerning with my dates of last having sex.I just dont understand if no growth why is the heart still beating-even though consultant said you cant compare the scans.Booked me in again for 2 weeks.I know this is not a viable pregnancy but I'm just wondering if anyone has been in the same situation and when can I expect the heart to stop/miscarry.Thank you for taking the time to read.xx

I’m so sorry this is happening, it’s awful not knowing or understanding what’s going on.

I recently had a similar situation and got pregnant naturally and very unexpectedly when my IVF daughter was 11 months old. We went for a private scan at 6+5 weeks but the sonographer said it measured 4 weeks.

She was not clear with her wording and said she’s just saying what she can see, but we were very confused at the dates because 4 weeks didn’t match up with ‘the deed’.

She said to come back in 10 days for a rescan and it’s just a waiting game until then. I didn’t get to the appointment as I started bleeding before then and lost the baby.

I’m not sure if it’s a different situation if there’s a clear heartbeat though, so there might still be a chance for you. Good luck. X

Hi Gerabear22. Sorry to know you are finding yourself in an uncertain situation. It can be incredibly hard to decide whether to hope or not. Is the difference only a week between measurements and the 'deed' date? If it were me, I would still be hopeful for a positive outcome. The reason would be giving benefit of doubt to to the embryo getting implanted late, and/or slightly inaccurate measurements. I would suggest weekly internal (transvaginal) scans for a good comparison. As long as the heartbeat is there, it's all positive. All the best!
