8 weeks + 1 day scan

Hi guys, just a little update from me. Had a scan today as still bleeding here and there.. they said baby seems fine and is measuring 2 days ahead 🤔 is this usually ok? They also discovered I have a small subchorionic bleed below the sac. So glad to see babys heartbeat is ok and baby growing but now there are more worries with this news.. Has anyone else had one or know anything about it. They said quite common but ive never heard of this ❤️💫

Hi littlepea - that's lovely that you saw the baby's heartbeat! Subchorionic bleeds and haematomas are super common, especially in IVF pregnancies, so you have plenty of company here.

We had two, one above one sac and one below the other. It is scary. But I found it comforting to know there was a cause for my spotting but it also meant I have been taking it easy and really really avoiding heavy lifting, etc. I was told no exercise but walking is okay. They had shrunk between my 7 and 9 week scans and the bottom one is nearly gone - so they can and do go away over time but it's never ever fun seeing bleeding and obviously keep an eye on things. Did they give you much advice?

We were also measuring 2 days ahead in our 10 week scan but the babies are so so teeny that it's not super accurate anyway. I'd say it means you are on track!

Ahh thank you Hoop 🙏🥰 this makes me feel a little better. No advice from them really just said it happens sometimes 😒 and that it was small at 14 x 7 mm 🤔 really hope it goes and doesn't get bigger. I'm on baby aspirin do you think it's ok to still take, do you think it could help it go? It was amazing seeing baby, still doesn't feel real. I can't believe I'm actually pregnant. Your pregnant with twins? How amazing ❤️❤️❤️ congratulations to you lovely xxx

Ah that's not super helpful of them! But if they weren't too concerned then that's great. And small is also good! I'm not on aspirin this time around but when I bled last year (it was an early miscarriage, unfortunately) my clinic advised me to stop aspirin straight away. So I would check in with them if you can? Others may know though!

And yes! Thank you!! 10+2 today with twins and it does not feel real at all. Even though we saw them both wiggling and waving their arms and legs last week in the scan (at 9+1), which was super gorgeous. They looked like gummy bears..! I'm still very nervous but I'm hoping I'll feel a bit more settled after the 12 week scan. 💕xx

Thank you ❤️ they have told me to continue with aspirin. Just pray everything goes OK and it doesn't get any bigger.

Ahh at 9 weeks you can see them wiggle 😍 that is very cute. I'm 9 weeks next week, tempted to get a private scan now lol gummy bears haha

I'm sure your 12 week scan will be fine, not too long to go. Keep me updated and all the best lovely xxx ❤️

I’m so so happy to see this! It’s super normal to measure a few days ahead or behind at this stage as the baby is so little so don’t worry ♥️

I had a subchorionic haematoma with my current pregnancy, was picked up during my 8 week scan as well. Mine bled out at 9 weeks, I stood up from a chair and felt a gush, it looked horrendous as was a lot of fresh blood but a scan the next day confirmed it was just the haematoma that had bled out and resolved itself and I’ve had no bleeding since. Apparently they are really common with ivf pregnancies, I know it’s hard not to worry but if the sonographer wasn’t worried about it then it shouldn’t cause you any problems xxx

Thanks so much Kibo ❤️ it was so beautiful seeing baby today (we keep calling baby him lol) I'm still I'm shock this is actually happening. Wow that sounds frightening standing from the chair and seeing loads of blood but you probably thought deep down that it could be the subchorionic haematoma after being told week before?? Still must have been horrendous. So glad all was well with you. Thanks for making me feel better 🥰 and breath lol xxx

Yes we hoped it was that but having previously had a mc, it’s hard not to fear the worst! This bleed was completely painless though and so sudden. Hopefully yours will reabsorb itself but if you do have a bleed, try not to panic xxx

I'm so happy to see your updates!!!! You made my day. Glad you saw a heartbeat! 🙏🏻 Don't worry about the subchorionic bleed plenty plenty of women get it during pregnancy and it resolves on its own. Enjoy your pregnancy and take it one day at a time ❤️

Yea good news! I had a SH too and bled for 2 weeks. I stayed on 150mg aspirin right through. The bleeding sorted itself and I was told it is common. xx

Thanks Bozo and thanks for encouraging me to contact them ❤️ yes I'm going to remain on 75mg of aspirin and drink loads of water hopefully it will flush it out 😅 unlikely lol but I need to do something xxx
