Dear ladies, anyone got subchorionic haematoma in early pregnancy? Yesterday, I got heavy bleeding due to haematoma. Fortunately, my baby is still alive, but I am in high risk still now. Can anyone help me how to overcome this? Anyone has gone through with this situation?

hello yes my daughter did and bled on and off up until 12 weeks, was very frightening and they could see it in the scans but it did disappear. She had to stop taking aspirin for a little while, I hope yours disappears soon x

She was bleeding on and off and each time resulted in a trip to the epu, it is very scary but hopefully it will calm down, she is currently 30 weeks pregnant x

l had a hematoma and had some fresh blood and then spotting up until wk12. I’m nearly 30wks. I was told not to lift anything heavy, avoid sex and generally take it easy. I know it’s so hard not to worry but from what I’ve read on other threads as well, most people get it through it and it disappears by itself. You’ve got this, you just need to take it easy, rest up and ride it through xxx

I went to A&E as was so scared and they told me the advice I shared. You could go to your GP and get a sicknote if work is too much for you, to just relax and keep your feet up if that makes you feel better? For me as I was working from home I had flexibility and did put my feet up when I could. Sending you big hugs as I know how scary this is xxx

Hi, may I know how long yur bledding persists?

That’s positive that’s it’s dark brown. It means it’s old blood. Mine continued on and off up to 12ish weeks. Your next scan will hopefully put your mind at ease, you r also reached 12wks which is a monumental milestone! Try your best to divert your thoughts when you’re worrying, I know it’s easier said than done, I used to keep saying “All is well” as a positive affirmation and it helped me. X

Thanks a lot for yur kind support.. Hopefully everything will be fine for me.. So, the haematoma will shrink after some time, right?

Yes and has already started to probably dissolve itself or you would be bleeding fresh blood. When you go for your scan you can ask them if they can see it. When I went for my 12wk scan they could barely see anything.

Hi, I miscarried my baby at 13 weeks. 😭could not do anything. With this haematoma, sepsis developed and it miscarried out.

I started bleeding around 11 weeks. It was really scary, I ended up in the ER in the middle of the night because they thought it was a misscariage but the baby was fine. At my NT scan they found a big hematoma (10*3cm). A few weeks after I started bleeding again and had some clots. The biggest was the size of my palm. I checked for a heartbeat with the doppler and everything was fine. The next day they found out the hematoma got a bit smaller (7*2cm). I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and I have a check up this friday to see what is happening with the hematoma.

Hi, thanks for yur reply. May I know how r yu coping things like did yur dr told yu to have complete rest or regular activities. How long after yu had done scans?

She just said to take it easy. I try to listen to my body. If I feel Ok I go for a short walk, do some cleaning. When I was bleeding my stomach was tender so It was uncomfortable to walk so I only got up to use the toilet. Apparently you can't prevent a misscarige or do anything to cause it if it's not meant to be. I try not to worry as long as there isn't any fresh blood and having a doppler helps a lot.

Oh no I'm so sorry for your loss. That is heartbreaking. ❤️ As far as I know everything is fine with me. The hematoma got a lot smaller and I have another scan tomorrow and I hope it will be gone.

Hi! I had a large subchorionic hematoma and a scary bleed at 5w3d. They told me I was at high risk when my clinic did a scan at 6 w. The advice I got was to take it easy - no walking and standing for more than 20 minutes at a time, to work from home if possible and to stop the baby aspirin that I was taking. I managed to arrange working from home and continued working on my computer to keep my mind away from it. Stayed at home and took it easy. The hematoma resolved itself by 12 weeks. It was a pretty horrible period of anxiety but I didn't get any more bleeds, listened to my body and tried to stay positive for my little one. She is now 5 months old. Very best of luck!

I had a huge subchorionic haematoma at 17 weeks - it was 10x6cm.

It started with spotting like my period so I was petrified that it was the beginning of the end. But they did a scan and saw the haematoma outside the sac but inside the uterus. I bled for about 3 weeks before it finally stopped and the baby was fine.

He's now nearly 2 xx

Thanks. Did it shirnk after 3 weeks? Did yu go through scan? How long after yu did scan to check?

Millbanks profile image
Millbanks in reply totrishabhowmik

After 3 weeks it had gone completely - some of it bled out and some of it was absorbed.

I had a weekly scan for 4 weeks to check the progress. x
