Hello,I'm currently 14 weeks and 5 days pregnant and have had a dull headache daily for a week now. I've measured my blood pressure, which is fine, so it's not that. I'm trying to limit my use of paracetamol and am relying on a 4head stick and migraine strips.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm hoping that sometime can reassure me that it will pass soon!
Thank you in advance.

Hi! I am sorry to hear about the headache. I had headaches for most of my pregnancy, they were dull but also with an aura. Took paracetamol, bought a blood pressure meter to monitor and told the midwife. Things improved in the second and third trimester. Didn't develop preeclampsia, touch wood, apparently headaches are very common due to the hormonal changes. I hope it goes away soon!
Another pesky side effect sadly. To alleviate headaches I’ve increased water and also sought alternative therapies including reflexology and pre-natal massage. I have found these quite helpful, you would need those who specialise in pre-natal. I also found this pressure point chart which I found helpful that I am attaching. Hope these tips help x
yes sadly can just be a pregnancy symptom- make sure you are drinking loads of water as you need so much more when pregnant. I found days when I didnt drink as much (but still as much as pre-pregnancy) I would get headaches. But not necessarily the reason for yours- but may help.
I found out that as well as not drinking enough I wasn’t eating enough! It’s normal and it will hopefully fade. Especially if you’re on IvF meds would make it worse.. maybe you’ve just come off them? I had awful withdrawal symptoms..
Hope you don’t mind me messaging you but I think I’m in the same boat as you!
I had my 12 week scan on Thursday (all looking good 🥳) and I came off a lot of IVF meds on the Friday (cold turkey) since then I’ve been suffering really bad headaches! And I think you may have had the same as you’d mentioned withdrawal symptoms.
How long did it last? I’m drinking more water but doesn’t seem to shift it!
Congratulations!! For me it was really bad for 2/3 days then it got better. I think probably gone within a week? Then the headaches came back around 20 weeks from memory. I hope you feel better soon, get plenty of rest x
Congratulations! I've no good news, I'm afraid. I'm still suffering almost daily. The cooling strips and migraine sticks help slightly. I've had one session of acupuncture, and have booked a couple more in the hope that it will help. I can let you know if the acupuncture solves it. Sorry that is not much help. I hope yours go quickly!
Hi! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I totally get where you're coming from – headaches during pregnancy can be quite a challenge. When I was pregnant, I experienced similar headaches that would come and go. My go-to was paracetamol, and my doctor assured me it was absolutely okay to take when needed. It's great that you're monitoring your blood pressure, and I hope the 4head stick and migraine strips bring you some relief. Also, always keep yourself hydrated. Dehydration can cause terrible headaches.
Every pregnancy is unique, but hang in there – the headaches might ease up soon. Sending you positive vibes for a smoother journey ahead!
Hey lovely, I had the same around this point in pregnancy. My midwife said it’s common and that it’s due to the increased blood volume that comes with pregnancy. She actually suggested drinking a little caffeine to help - a small coffee or tea per day - because the caffeine constricts blood vessels slightly and can relieve the pressure caused by the extra blood volume.
My headaches went away on their own after a couple weeks so hopefully you’re almost through it xx
Thank you for your reply. I will look into the caffeine, as I've cut it out completely.
Hi, I have had excruciatong headaches throughout this pregnancy, to point id be crying in pain but then even that hurt, like one sided pain in temples usually. Paracetamol hasn't done anything to help you just have to have sleep it off and use migraine strips which ate soothing. My blood pressure also fine. Anyway just wanted to say had them throughout fist and second trimester but thank god they magically dissapeared in my third which is such a relief. I read somewhere blood vessels in your head become swollen. This made sense to me as it really felt like that.
