I am currently 6 weeks pregnant after a frozen transfer, and I had a huge gush of blood today, which was scary, but turned out to be a hematoma.
Baby was fine, saw the heartbeat 💓 a huge relief but obviously was a big scare. We lost our last pregnancy at 5 months and so this was always going to be an anxious pregnancy, and now I am even more anxious.
Does anyone have any stories they can share of their hematomas in pregnancy so I can have some idea of what to expect? I guess I want reassurance but if you have less reassuring stories they might help me prepare for the worst.
Yours anxiously

I had a hematoma from a frozen embryo pregnancy and the bleeding stopped around 12 weeks and my baby is now 10 months. I hope that makes you feel a little better and congratulations on your pregnancy x
It was, after the gush of red blood it became sporting. I was told unless it was heavy bleeding to assume all was ok. I was anxious but just kept reminding myself that all is well unless I had real symptoms that showed otherwise. X
I had light bleeding at 5 weeks and then a large bleed at 7 weeks. Scan showed a large haematoma and I was told it was likely I’d have bleeding on and off throughout my pregnancy for a while but I actually haven’t bled since. I was told they can just go away on their own and some women have it without any bleeding at all and causes no problems. I’m currently 21 weeks pregnant and all was well at our 20 week scan last week, our baby boy is growing away nicely. Stay positive ❤️
I had a hematoma with my son n 2021 from early on until about 10 weeks. I had huge bleeds with clots a couple of times and spotted brown and red the rest of the time it was a very worrying month or so but it did heal eventually on its own and the rest of the pregnancy went smoothly. I took some time off work and rested between week 6-8 and clinic scanned me weekly too until nearly 9 weeks then discharged me, and I spotted for another week or so and it was all fine afterwards. It is quite common in IVF pregnancies apparently, especially frozen transfers, and does carry miscarriage risk but there are loads of ladies with positive outcomes like mine and since you’ve also seen a heartbeat there is loads of reasons to be be hopeful and positive (although I know you will still be anxious it’s only natural) but I will be positive for you 🤗💜✨ xx
I had 3 significant bleeds from a haematoma. First at 5 weeks, then 6 weeks and another at 8 weeks. I was convinced I had lost the baby after the first as it was so much and I had cramps but scan showed thriving baby! I was having scans every two weeks with my local epu and it showed baby was fine every time. I was told to expect more bleeding as the haematoma was growing but after the 8 weeks bleed I had no more bleeding and 12 weeks was all clear! They usually say they resolve themselves by 12 weeks!
I was told they are very common and more so with IVF but they don't know why!
I'm now 30 weeks pregnant, this was from a FET.
Contact your local epu, mine were amazing, they were so reassuring and continued to scan me even though they weren't concerned as they knew how anxious I was. I also have a history of loss. It's totally understandable for you to be feeling scared, get some reassurance and regulars scans to monitor it!
