Hi! I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and since 12 weeks I am having constant UTIs. It is really depressing as I am not getting any valuable support from GP (they lost my urine sample ones, vaginagal swab - once, never call back and forget to check on me, etc.), A&E told me I should really be seen by GP as they only consider very critical cases (high fever, kidney failure). At my maternity unit, I have been told today that I should be seen by GP as my unit is super busy with babies, etc. I feel at loss and willing to pay for a doctor-led pregnancy as it seems like no one is taking this seriously. I had to fly back to my home country and be checked there where it was found that I am having some issues with my test results. I am now back in the UK as I have to get back to work but am panicking that I am getting 0 support from GP.
Did anyone else have similar experiences? Could you tell me how to get more personalized support? Does anyone have a doctor-led pregnancy?
Thank you!

Hi Effecta, do you have an email address/phone number for your midwife? The midwife should take your urine sample, and if the dip stick shows signs of UTIs send it to the lab for analysis. Have you tried it yet ?
I came to the clinics today and they told me I should go to triage… that is where I was told they are super busy and I better go and see my GP instead…. I will try calling them again
I found that emailing the midwife team helped. If you get nowhere with that or your gp you can also try to call 111 as sometimes they can arrange appointments with extra gps. X
I am sorry to hear you are struggling. They really should help you in a timely fashion with UTIs. Have you tried D Mannose? When I start feeling the symptoms of a UTI, I take D Mannose, which is a type of sugar that lines your bladder and makes it difficult for the bacteria to stick and is sold over the counter. I don't know if it is safe to use during pregnancy but the leaflet of the product should say. Good luck! I hope the UTI goes away soon.
hi, in my first pregnancy I had spotting which was linked to a UTI. I called 111 as at the time didn’t know and was assessed and provided with antibiotics to take (pregnancy Safe) which helped to clear the issue.
