pregnancy bleeding

hi all

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and after sex started to bleed, had a bit of freak out and think the worst. The bleeding has slowed down now and I don’t have any pain yet but has anyone experienced this and had a positive outcome?? Thank you all

Hi lovely,

I had a subchorionic haematoma at 17 weeks which caused bleeding for about 3 weeks. Not dangerous at all but obviously very worrying when you see blood. It was brown blood though which is usually old....

Was yours red / brown / pink? xx

thanks Millbanks - really trying to stay positive - it is a pinky blood not brown so worrying for me

It could just be that sex irritated the cervix - TBH I avoided sex as much as possible because I was so scared of this happening!

The fact that it's slowed is a good sign. I would monitor it and see if it gets any worse - maybe go to the EPU for a scan just to check all ok.

When I had the SCH I had weekly scans for reassurance and to see if it was going down - I paid for these privately and felt it was worth it for peace of mind xx

Have you mentioned this to your M/Wife ? As 2nd post says maybe it was because your cervix has a bigger blood supply now and having intercourse triggered the bleeding

It should settle now

thanks everyone - I went and had a scan yesterday and all is fine. They actually couldn’t tell me why I bled but they think it’s because my placenta is quite close to my cervix still, hoping it continues to move and grow. Thank you for your kind responses x
