Fibroscan if morbidly obese

It has taken forever to get a Fibroscan in the area that I live in, and now we have one. However, I am unsure if I want one.My BMI puts me in the morbidly obese category and I know that the scan may be inaccurate, I am dealing with another life-threatening illness and can't handle any more stress. Is there a real reason to do it? I already know I have fibrosis. I have lost 25 bs and am exercising daily.

without fibroscan you won't know really the extent of damage to your liver, but the drs and you will then learn what you need to combat your problem. I am so glad I found out,my 1st scan was 5 yrs, ago, I have one each yr. in September. I can't wait for my next one to see how I am doing. Its best to know always, stress on knowing I think is always better, than not knowing.

I understand how you feel. I kind of feel the same way. The treatment is the same so why does it really matter? Unless of course you're trying to keep track of whether or not what you're doing is working...

In addition to previous comments, it may also be beneficial to have a Fibroscan result documented in your medical record for insurance purposes, and since it has been difficult to get one in your area, you may want to avail yourself of this opportunity.
