Here is result from fibroscan. I need help understanding if i can reverse and how bad this is. My BMI is 35 so I definitely need to lose weight. My dr said “F1/S3….lose weight-exercise. No need for biopsy at this point” When i look at charts I see it as F2 but Dr said said F1? I can see my 10 valid measures (exam took like 3 minutes max with probe thing gettting measures). S3 sounds awful.

Can someone explain meaning- what us IQRs mean- i see a couple of these. Also do i have scarring? Does this mean NASH?

Anyone who can help me better understand where I am? Thanks!!

My recent blood labs were:

ALT 31 (lab cutoff normal 32)

AST 23 (lab cutoff normal 30)

ALP 152 (high)

Bilirubin 1.1

Platelets 286

what about my high Alk phosphates???

Lots of questions tamo, we have to be careful not to play doctor but a few comments. IQR stands for Interquartial Range. If you divide your results into quarters and drop the outside two the high and low results from that middle set is the IQR. It is a measure of how consistent the readings are. Generally docs are happy with a percentage below 20% so your test is on the edge. Since your kpa is fairly low, your doc probably isn't concerned about you having advanced NASH. Your liver is stressed and S3 means that it is very fatty, technically over 2/3 fat so cause for concern but from this test it says that you have early stage damage which is quite manageable. The answer, of course, is weight loss and lifestyle change. No need to be terrified, but a good time to take stock of your life and decide how you are going to live from now on. It is fair warning time but take a breath as you caught it early.

By reversing fatty liver do you also mean your Cap score dropped? Mine is an S3….2/3s fat…can that get reversed to like and S1 with weight loss/exercise?

My liver is fat free now and my CAP is 156. I lost 70 pounds from my peak weight.

Thank you!! It gives me hope that even with a current CAP Of 294 and Kpa of 7.4 i can slow the progress and or lower scores and reverse /slow progession. The S3 Cap especially and F1-2 scores freaked me out and it helps to hear that others with similar and/or higher scores with hard work/discipline via diet/exercise are being able to turn around.

I really appreciate hearing such success news as it does give me hope.

Thank you!!

wonderful!

This is all very new to me and I feel my docs aren't acting like I have a concerning diagnosis.

To advocate for myself-can someone tell me a few pointers to be asking in my next visit??

I see my gasto enterologist Friday!

I’m so happy you reached out to this group 4tamo! It sounds like you’ve been thrown into a world many of us are familiar with, fatty liver disease. I didn’t have the tests and information you do when I first heard the words fatty liver. I didn’t change my lifestyle because I didn’t know how serious this can be. Due to my fatty liver and not making lifestyle changes, I was diagnosed with cirrhosis a few years ago. I will tell you that I feel so much healthier than my old me. You can reverse the damage to your liver and find life is so much better on the other side of being overweight and unhealthy. I love food and even with cutting out sugar, carbs, meat and processed foods I still eat lots of good things. I also exercise daily. My liver is as healthy as it can be with my diagnosis. There is lots of information and support out there. You can do this!
