Disimpaction not working

Hello! My son is currently going through a dismpaction his dose is 12 sachets of laxido, 20 mls of sodium pico alongside supporities an were 7 days in an nothing but over bouts of over flow. He had a transit study test an it showed the blockage. We were already trailing different doses of laxido along with sodium picosulfate but everything would work for a week an then stop so they finally listened to me an did the transit study test as they couldnt feel the poo in his tummy an were not taking me serious.. I know dismpaction can take a time but I can't help to worry that the fact he is on 3 different types of medication at the highest dose an still nothing.. I'm losing hope, feel like I'm fighting a losing battle.

You need to keep going, 7 days is early in the process.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I've been on this thread for quite sometime now an reading others stories through disimpactions an how some have lasted for weeks an weeks. This is my 3rd attempt at it an the last 2 attempts I was told by my gp that I was not allowed to stay on 12 sachets for any longer than 2 days an each time I did it it never worked an had no choice but to come back down even though I told them it did not work. Its only now they are taking me serious because of the xray.. its extremely difficult an I'm trying my best to remain positive in the hope that we can fix this someday.

Sweet corn/ chia/flaxseeds in meals and whats his exerciseing like, maybe a tampoline/ bike ride would get his bowels moving. Sencot works. I'd tried all sorts and that works plus natural food with fibre and lots of fluids to get him back to hydration again. Hope things get better for you. Sounds like a lot of medication. Maybe speak to doctor to see if he really needs 3, as they could just reacting/ canceling each other out.

Thank you for replying. I know 3 lots of medication an no movement in a week while on them was an still is quite worrying for me although even tho he seems to be doing okay now just using supporities I've no faith in this lasting as we've been going round in circles for almost 3 years now an always back at sqaute 1 again.. Im hoping to get a referral to a gasterologist as I don't think the pediatrician he see's knows alot an they all tell you different things..

How are you getting on now? We did 18 days of 12 sachets of Movicol before being admitted to hospital. We are now on day 4 of Klean-Prep. They couldn't feel my daughter's impaction either but the xray showed it all.

Hello! Firstly I'm sorry to hear about what your daughter is going through its awful isn't it? An its even worse when they don't believe you. He also ended up going into hospital for 2 enemas plus 2 litres of klean prep although he wasn't kept in for it we were able to go home.. I do think the klean prep worked but without an xray to prove it you never really what's going on. His consultant wanted me to try him on on just supporities for awhile to see if that works which is for now but this is how it always is an then 2/3 weeks later we can be back at square 1 again. An if this stops working he wants me to go back to the laxido, sodium pico plus supporities. I don't think the professionals know what till either half the time. How's your doctor getting on?

Well we have the fun task of getting through 4 litres of Klean Prep a day! 1st day we started late so only had 2.5l, she's had 4l a day for the last 3 days though. No end in sight yet, they're going to do an ultrasound next. Our GP suggested she had an eating disorder and that's why she wanted laxatives, it's infuriating. Battling on until this is sorted, every Dr we see says something different which isn't particularly helpful.

Aww I feel for you an your daughter an hope all goes well.. My gp told me I was over reacting an he couldn't be impacted if he was eating an drinking an that the over flow he was passing for weeks an weeks at a time was probably most likely overly soft poo from the all the laxatives.. nor the gp or the consultant took me serious when I told them nothing was working just told me to keep going an to shut me up they did the transit test.. I hear you about the different advice from different doctors which is also very draining as you never know who to listen to. It's extremely tough an people who don't have these issues don't get it at all, if 1 more person suggests kiwi's to me I might squeal 😂
