5 y old accidents

Hi there , we have always struggled with potty training my second child. He is usually dry at night and will even wake up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. Some weeks he will go all week with no accidents, other weeks he will have several accidents, sometimes 3+ a day. He often wets himself at school and will not tell anyone so it just dries on him and I notice at pick up the very strong smell. Everytime he seems to do progress he soon regresses. He is about to turn 5 and I don't know what else to do. I am worried about the fact he is staying wet and that can cause him problems..I have spoken calmly and try to understand why he won't say anything, we tried sticker charts etc. ANY advise, absolutely ANY would be amazing

Rule out constipation, it's the guilty culprit until proven otherwise even if you think they are going normally its almost certain they are constipated. Also speak to the school, he is still only very young and they need to support him better.

Thank you so much. He does suffer a bit with constipation, he was on 8 sachets of movicol as a baby, but the gp isn't being very helpful because he is having bowel movements every other day. I have spoken to the school but because he isn't telling them they say there's not much more they can do. I am going to insist with the gp a bit more. Thank you ❤️

Yes that can be one of the things that happen with encopresis

Yeh I wet bed from age 14 to 19
