Stool withholding, laxido and accidents. How do I get the dose right?

My daughter is 3 in December . She's been potty training for 7 months and has been stool withholding most of the time or just pooing in her knickers. After months of trying behavioural interventions my daughter started long term laxatives last Sunday after an awful weekend of constipation and stool withholding. The GP said I could titrate the dose according to how she was doing. She was very backed up so I was giving her one sachet a day. Most poos were in the potty after this at first, although she took a lot of persuading to get on the potty but as things loosened up she started pooing in her knickers. Then I lowered it to half a sachet a day and she held a bit but then went in the potty and it was soft, but as she held a bit I put her up to one sachet again but she's been having lots of poo accidents. I'm not sure if it's because her stools are so loose (but not diarrhoea) or that she doesn't want to use the potty and doesn't want to let the poo out but can't help herself. I don't know whether to put her back down to half a sachet this evening. Arggggg it's so hard to know what to do. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. I'm so drained from how long potty training is taking. I've been in tears multiple times.

My daughter is just the same. She’s 5 tho! 🤦‍♀️She refuses to sit on the toilet so a tiny bit of poo comes out. I’ve started a good toilet routine and she’s allowed to watch her favourite video on the loo. I use dry like me pads to keep her pants clean and try not to comment when she’s soiled. It may be that your daughter needs a disimpaction routine to start. But her poos would be really foul smelling and my daughter always looks bloated when she is backed up. All the best, you’re not alone!! X

Thank you so much for your reply. I don't think my daughter needs disimpacting as on the second day of laxido so much poo came out and a lot more since. What's your toilet routine? We let our daughter watch kids you tube on the potty. Our daughter's abdomen got so distended when she was badly constipated bless her. Where do you get the dry like me pads from?
