Hi

I had acupuncture in the biggest clinic for acupuncture in Harley street, london. It was 2 months after my lap. I ended up in agony with lower back pain and joint pain in my knees and ankles and I never had pain in these places in my life before. I had 3 sessions, thinking its going to go away.

Its now 2 months after acupuncture, and I'm still struggling to recover. i saw my gynae and an osteopath, both told me that acupuncture can be very powerful and overwhelming for the body in some people. Especially if the the nervous system is already over-alert because of endo pain (endo pressing on nerves etc) then the result sometimes is not good.

I've been told that the cases with extreme adverse reactions to acupuncture are not very common but they do exist... :/

In my case the acupuncturist activated more nerves probably than calming me down and now I have to see the osteopath to relax my body because of the acupuncture!!!...

I would advise to see how it goes and dont go back unless you feel 100% ok. Even after that if you still think you want to go back you need to talk to them and take a different approach to the treatment.

Personally, I will never do acupuncture again. Maybe after many years, and only for relaxation purposes (few needles on my shoulders and thats it).

Did they place needles in you back and in which places on your legs??

I do hope you feel better soon and you wont go through a nightmare like mine. xxx

I loved accupuncture!! I'm not sure it worked for the endo pain but it certainly made me feel relaxed and rejuvinated. I went to see a lovely lady in Tavistock, she was very gentle and understanding.

Just thought i'd add a positive twist ;)

hey there im a natural therapist and I do think acupuncture is amazing but I feel (this is just my opinion) but they use far to many needles and overloads the system especially when there in the problem area as it pull (chi) or blood to those areas and if they are already inflamed it could make it worse ive found the none invasive method of acupressure a lot better or shiatsu I am not trained in acupuncture but I am in the acupressure and I also treat above and below the problem areas as to let the chi and blood flow freely to do its own work yes this itself can cause a flare up but it should ease of and I find if you ground yourselves it can get rid of exsess chi that could be causing to make it worse the quickest way is to pop outside bear feet and do some deep breaths imagining the ground taking it.

like I say this is my opinion and not wonting to upset anyone :) I do have endo myself and find the acupressure helps with my pain but acupuncture can have a profound affect on my system and ova load it.
