My lap was rather an experience....

Had my lap today (first), I was surprisingly relaxed!!

Went to theatre, heart rate was quite high even tho I felt relaxed. Anaesthetic and knew no more until they woke me up 2 hours later. Apparently my heart stopped and they had to resuscitate me!! Apparently this is a risk of the blowing up with gas?!!! Nothing I've ever read said that!!!

Anyhow, I been fine since, except no endo found so need to look for another answer to this sodding constant pain. Gutted I so hoped for an answer.

Apparently I do have chronic constipation - hardly surprising given I take codeine most days just to function.

This forums been great at informing me of what to expect and advice for preparing.

No idea where I go next. The gynae told me to give it three months before looking into other causes... I can't bear the thought of another three months of this :(

I'm sorry that your lap was complicated - glad you are ok now!

I had my lap on Thursday (stitches out tomorrow!!) and also told no endo - even got shown photos of my healthy organs so I'm in the same boat. My heart rate and blood pressure were also WAY higher than normal in the anaesthetic room so that seems to be normal even though I was having a lovely chat with the anaesthetist about uni.

My gynae started me on the pill for 3 packs at a time about a month before the lap and has told me to continue with that for a few months. I'll be due a break around the time of my post-op follow up so I'll have to ask what next! I'm hoping it will help - apparently opening you up and moving everything around can work wonders for no obvious reason...

I was really upset for the first couple of days afterwards as I wanted them to find endo so they could remove it and make it all better, but now I'm trying to be positive about it.

A :)

I know this might sound really silly but chronic constipation can cause horrendous pain so I'd sort that out and see what happens. I've had two lap one where they found and treated mild endo and they found nothing in the second but because the treatment I'm on works they've said I most likely have adeno so it may not mean you don't have a gynea issue hun xx

Thanks all for your responses. I know the constipation was just due to codeine, it happens every time. I end up trying to balance how much pain I can manage and still function versus how much codeine to take and risk constipation. What fun!! I'm getting to be quite the expert!!

So far I've been pain free since the lap, but the coccyx pain is already starting to nag again.

LAE33, your experience sounds awful, much worse and scary. :(
