Hi all
I had my post op appointment with my Consultant yesterday.
He confirmed that the endometrioma I have has grown so is now 7cm x 5cm. He confirmed that when he did my laparoscopy it confirmed that the endometrioma was stuck to my uterus, bowel and pelvic wall which is why the surgery to remove the cyst was abandoned as it became much more complicated.
I had a good conversation with my Consultant as to the options now going forward. Option 1 was a hysterectomy leaving my right ovary intact to avoid me going into early menopause. Option 2 was a more tricky but doable surgery where he believed he may be able to remove the cyst together with my left ovary and tube with the assistance of a urologist due to how close the pelvic wall is to my ureter. Option 3 was to monitor. We discussed all options in depth and I decided that we would monitor so I will have another scan in a year and see the Consultant again in a year to reassess. My Consultant did say I was free to change my mind at any point.
As I have had no symptoms and very minimal pain, I felt that monitoring the endomentrioma for a year is the best option for me for now.
