1 day post op

Hiya,

I am 1 day post surgery for my endo. And unfortunately it was not the news I was hoping for. They have diagnosed me Stage 4 with a ruptured cyst, my ovaries are connected to the front of my womb and also its over my bowel. They only drained the other cysts and have said I need referring to a Specialist endometriosis clinic for further treatment. Can anyone just give me some advice if you've been in a similar position or been to a specialist clinic

Thank you

Hello - Sorry to hear it wasn't what you were hoping to hear. I have stage 4 endo and on my bowel but mine was diagnosed by MRI. From there I was referred in to a specialist BSGE centre who can deal with stage 4 and I'm assuming the same will happen with you. You can look up your nearest centre on the BSGE website. Do you know who's sorting your referral? For most BSGE, the wait times are long but if you go on to a surgery list, your wait time normally starts from your referral date .e.g. for me I saw my general gynae for results of my MRI in Dec 23, he referred me to BSGE which happened beginning of Feb 24. I saw the BSGE consultant in June 24 to discuss options and I was put on to an urgent surgery waitlist. This was still long but it backdated to the Feb. I'm due to have my surgery next week. Hope that helps x

I'm 8 weeks post a 5hour laparoscopy which removed a lot of endometriosis.

Stage 4, my womb was adhered to my bladder, bowel, muscle, ovaries. Since I came round I've not even taken a paracetamol!

My whole life is changed...I can bend, twist, move so much more freely and other than recovery soreness internally my previous pain is all but gone.I feel 20 years younger (I'm 46).

I hope you have the same experience, good luck x

I had this almost exact diagnosis including the ruptured endometrioma which they only found this week when I had a hysterectomy. I am 6 days post op and already feel so much better. This might be a shock now but being referred to a specialist BSGE centre is the best thing. They are so skilled and their surgical teams deal with complex cases like this all the time. They will have you under their care and together you can decide a way forward. Good luck xx
