Spotting on Zoladex

Hello

I'm on my second month of Zoladex to treat endometriosis. I had a period like bleed on 2 March 2025 and I'm now bleeding again. I was feeling emotional over the last few days then wiped to see blood. Is this normal?

Hello

Yes this can definitely happen. They tell you your periods will stop and you will be in a false menopause, but they don’t always. I had zoladex 3 times in 10 years. First two fine. The 3rd not so. Stopped working and I started bleeding. Changed to prostap, no different. Got worse and bled constantly for 7 months then had a hysterectomy on urgent cancer list. Found lumps in womb which were fine so got the all clear. Ended up my bowel and womb were fused with Endo and I had an emergency stoma. Had this reversed a weeks I go. Sore, slow and stubborn at the moment! I’m not letting it beat me, like Arnie , I will be back! Good luck.

Hi sorry to hear that. That sounds really frightening. Glad you are not letting it beat you. Yes it's odd how it seems to work for other people but not everyone. I've got endo on my bowel and I see someone had commented that zoladex does not always work for people with deeply infiltrating endometriosis.

Ive just had zoledex number 13 and its been amazing for me.The 1st 3 months was still hard, pain, bleeding, menopause symptoms so added hrt at jab 2.

Since jab 3 ive had no periods but the odd couple of days spotting a couple of months ago. Pain is still there but no where near as bad as before. My consultant said ride out 3 jabs and see how they go and it was great.

Im waiting for full hysterectomy this year as been waiting a year now.

The mental side of things was the hardest but i took my husband to every app ( his work was brilliant and gave him the time to) and this helped him understand how bad i was.

I also took a 12 week private 1 on 1 therapy and that helps.

I still have struggle days but be kind to yourself and reach out if needed.

Everyone journey is different but this forum is great for advice xx

Thanks for commenting. I'm glad you are now having a better time with Zoladex. Yes it definitely is a struggle but good if we are kind to ourselves. I was expecting to have some bleeding over the first few months but I was a bit confused having a second bleed so quickly after my last one. I'll stick with it and hopefully it will calm down.

it’s normal! I had a period after my first injection. I had bleeding a few weeks after my second injection. My doc did a blood test and said she was certain I hadn’t ovulated (so not a period) but that my body was getting rid of excess tissue, like a period. I’ve had my third injection and the same thing. I would always recommend checking with your dr if you can, but probably totally benign
