Fatigue 3months post op

I had a lap on 15th November. I got an infection post op and ended up on antibiotics and off work for 7 weeks. I went back to work 4 weeks ago. I work 3 x10hour shifts as a specialist nurse. It's common not to get a proper lunch break, it's mentally, emotionally and physically demanding as a role but I love it. I had to stop exercising last July due to endo flares and am dying to get back to working out and lose some weight (gradually gained a stone over the last year). I am so so exhausted. I used to run twice a week. Do an aerobics class as well as walking to and from work (30mins each way). When will I get my stamina back? I had a GP appointment today and she thought it was due to my mental health and recovery etc and all normal (the appointment was to discuss low mood). When will I get my old level of energy back?? I would usually run on a Tues evening but I feel too tired!! So frustrating!!

Hi Hannah, I was off work for 3 months post op but was still fatigued until about 5 months and then suddenly I was ok again. If you had an infection, that has probably delayed your recovery. It sounds like your job is really busy. Go easy on yourself. Maybe try and start with brisk walks on your day off. Also ask your GP for blood tests.. thyroid, iron..you never know if something else is delaying recovery. It's horrible feeling fatigued, Really hope you feel better soon x
