Just after a little bit of advice sorry for the questions recently but feel like it’s 1 step forward and 95 back at the moment 😭
How long did people suffer with post op swelling for? I’m 3 weeks post op (tomorrow) and the swelling is ridiculous still it really hurts by the end of the day it’s making my skin feel so tight, I am still off work at the moment due to the type of job that I do but I just can’t see when I can return at the moment due to the swelling, pain and other infections I have going on.
Sorry to post again but I’m really at my wits end!

Everyone heals differently & it can vary depending on how much you have had done. Listen to your body & don't overdo it. If concerned reach out to your care team. I am 5 weeks post op & am healing really well. I started back at work on week 5 purely from home, but found sitting in a chair all day brought the aches back so now taking lots of breaks for as long as I need throughout the day, but others have had it much harder than me & have needed many months off of work
Thank you for your reply, I have another GP appointment tomorrow so I’m going to see what they say, I’m 3 weeks post op yesterday but I work looking after babies-5 year olds so I don’t know when I’ll be able to return as I get to about 3pm and I’m in a lot of pain, it’s so rubbish what our bodies have to go through
Good luck at the GP. Definitely take as much to me as you need as 5 year olds can be very demanding. Last thing you want to do is feel like your ok & then do too much and it puts you back
Peppermint tea is so helpful with swelling it's so good. I'm 7 weeks post op full hysterectomy and lots of others healed loads faster than me. You have to go with how you feel, how your body feels if it takes time then you have to go with it for the best outcomes don't you.
Bless you thank you I feel like I’m trying but it’s 1 step forward and 95 steps backwards. I think it’s hard with the lack of information and aftercare because it’s the unknown if it’s the normal or not
It did eventually settle but wasn’t fully better for over 2 months for me. I did get back to work wearing baggier pants (I wore scrubs as I can in work) at around 8 weeks post op, but then I probably would have been back in 4-6 weeks post op if I hadn’t suffered with a vulval haematoma. I switched all my knickers to a style that was more comfortable for me!
It gets better I promise. Peppermint tea is really great. I still have it 3 times a day now. Hope it settles really soon
Oh bless you thank you for this I read your post and can relate to a lot of things, it’s just hard not knowing if it’s ’normal’ or not, my swelling is just so sore and so hard, I initially suffered badly with the gas pain but that went however this is still there, I’m currently being treated for a potential uterus infection and have to go back tomorrow so I’m just going to mention everything there & hope that I can get some kind of answers
