Seeking Advice on Adenomyosis/Endometriosis Treatment

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been diagnosed with Adenomyosis and Endometriosis, and I’m seeking advice or experiences from those who have tried the hormonal IUD (Mirena) or undergone laparoscopy surgery.

Previously, I tried the Dienogest pill, but unfortunately, it didn’t work for me and caused severe acne.

I would also like to source the best doctor for conducting the surgery and get a second opinion. If anyone knows a highly recommended specialist who has experience with these procedures, I’d really appreciate the contact details.

If you’ve had experience with any of these treatments or know someone who could help, I’d be so grateful if you could share your journey or advice.

Thank you so much in advance!

hi, I have endo and adeno. I tried the mirena for about a year and it didn’t work for me. Made me quite sick and I had constant lower back pain. That said, I’ve read that it works well for many people. The Prostap injections worked really well for me. I was on them for about 2.5 years. Ultimately, I decided to have a total hysterectomy at 46. Best decision I ever made, wish I’d done it sooner. Personally, I think most of my pain and other symptoms came from the adenomyosis and as hysterectomy removes that, it’s given me a complete new life! Hope that’s helpful x

Hi, Thanks a lot indeed for your sharing ! May i know how long Prostap injections lasts for and if there is any side effect you experience for that? Did you get pregnancy after the injection by any chance? Many thanks!

Hi, Prostap injection are either given monthly or every 3 months. Essentially they stop your periods and put you in medical menopause so you have to take hrt alongside them. I found they were extremely helpful as I only experienced symptoms during my period. However, I haven’t had children and had no desire to have them so it was a much easier decision for me. My understanding is that as soon as you stop the injections, your period does return so in theory you could try to conceive again but you should definitely check that with your consultant/gp.
