Endometriosis and Adenomyosis

Hey again,

My consultant has suggested me taking the injections once a month for 6 months to see how different I feel? He explained to me I can’t have it after the 6 months as it’s not a long term thing but he said to me i should feel a lot better with them. Has anybody been on the injections and did you feel any better? I want to try for another baby as I have bad endo so my consultant said to try sooner rather than later. He said to take the injections at the time of trying to conceive which I found strange but I suppose I have to do what he says. So yeah I just want to know your advice on the injections if it helped relieve your symptoms and did you feel any better when you was on them?

Thanks again ladies x

If the monthly injection you are having is prostap or something similar you should not try to conceive whilst on them and you have to use other forms of birth control. I would speak to your doctor again as if you are trying , the info they have given you is incorrect x

What injections are you on? I am currently on Zoladex for adenomyosis it’s the only thing that has worked for me. I am having a FET in feb-march.

HRT injections for 6 months to help with the endo symptoms. He said he can’t treat my Adenomyosis until I’m old enough to have a hysterectomy. I’m only 22

Zoladex is different to HRT so can’t comment. Funny how different the advise is between consultants. It is true that adenomyosis cannot be operated on unlike endometriosis but if you want really good advise especially about hormones I can DM you a link which has been really helpful for me.

Yes please that would be great. Thank you so much

A well-performed excision surgery will preserve your fertility and remove all endometriosis a lot more effectively than through hormonal menopause.

I strongly suggest you immediately contact a very skilled and experienced endometriosis excision surgeon and discuss the possibility of a laparoscopy DONE RIGHT and then try for a baby right away while taking supplements (for endo, PCOS and conceiving I usually recommend this prenatal supplement [This post has been edited in line with Endometriosis UK's code of conduct].

I recently had a laparoscopy in May this year and he said not to try and conceive for at least a year as I need to allow my body to heal. He isn’t happy to do another laparoscopy until after the 6 months when I’ve been on the injections to see if there is any improvement. I just feel like he isn’t very supportive about trying for a baby. He said to me I can try now but I just don’t feel like it’s the right time with how I’m feeling with my symptoms etc. I was hoping for another laparoscopy soon and then I could try and conceive after but it seems to be that isn’t possible

I have seen countless cases of women who conceived naturally 2-3 months after a successfully performed excision surgery (always specify whether the laparoscopy you received was excision or ablation). These women all had stage 4 endo, meaning endometriomas + endo on the bladder/bowel/urethers/nerves.

If you are in this much pain maybe you either need to question the abilities of the surgeon (very few surgeons are capable of performing complete excision of the disease) or maybe look into how advanced adenomyosis is and maybe tackle that through radiofrequency thermal ablation.

If you wish to have another laparoscopy performed and wish to have one of the most skilled and experienced excision surgeons in the country to perform it, please contact me and I'd more than happy to send you the list. You have no idea how much of a difference an extremely experienced and well-trained surgeon makes.

You need to get to the bottom of this. The gyn you see who specialises in endo should know whether your pain is caused by adeno or endo.

Don't accept insufficient answers. You need to know exactly what the source of your pain is and then tackle that.

I am not here to give you advice. I am on this forum to accompany all women, step by step, to the surgeon and surgery who will change their life. Adeno is very hard (if not impossible) to treat surgically.

Radiofrequency thermal ablation is the new leading technique to treat ir but it's experimental and very new and very few centres are equipped to do it.

If your surgeon cannot tell you what the source of your pain is, you 100% need a second opinion.

Please PM me if looking into one of the most skilled and experienced endometriosis excision surgeons is something you feel like doing.
