I was diagnosed with rectovaginal endometriosis during my subtotal hysterectomy March 2024. The hysterectomy was due to a fibroid and my ovaries were kept as my surgeon said that they seemed to be doing a good job but since my hysterectomy I have been getting perimenopause symptoms so I'm on HRT gel and progesterone. My rectum and vagina were fused together and my bowel was fused to my cervix. My surgeon Mr Carpenter at Poole Hospital, is an endo specialist and he excised the endo from around the urethra and unfused my rectum, vagina, bowel and cervix.
Everything that was removed was sent for testing and it seems to have been fine.
A few months after my hysterectomy the bowel and pelvic pain that I had been having before my hysterectomy returned so I saw my endo surgeon a few days ago.
He has referred me to see bowel surgeon Professor Qureshi and a specialist endo nurse to discuss the bowel operation and the possible complications.
He warned me that the surgery might not help but the pelvic and bowel pain is such that it seems to be the only option. I'm also getting diarrhoea and constipation at times.
I'm just frustrated that even with surgery done by an endo specialist, the endo can just return so easily.
