I've finally got my follow-up appointment on Monday since my MRI in August last year, which showed some adhesions, endometriotic plaque/nodules and thickened uterosacral ligaments.
I've been on desogestrel since my last appointment but recently the lower back/hip/tailbone pain is just getting worse and worse. I'm sat at home today on the verge on tears. I've tried yoga, hot baths, heat pads, ice, etc. Nothing is giving me any relief. I was given mefenamic acid by my GP a while ago but it doesn't even touch the pain.
Has anyone got any recommendations for painkillers that I can ask my gynae for on Monday? Preferably something with few/no sides effects. What has worked best for you?

Hi, I was on cocodamol constantly post op as pain hadn’t improved, given my endo was localised to pelvic walls and ligaments, they have suggested an alternate painkiller which targets nerve pain. Im now on Pregabalin which is massively helping with my lower back pain. Previously I was waking every four hours to take codine, and redoing my hot water bottle the Pregabalin has put a stop to that, it’s only a few weeks in but I’m hoping this continues x
This isn't a silver bullet but one to test. I get pain about day 21-25 of my cycle so start taking mefenamic acid a day ahead of that, and then three times per day during. I'm also trialling natural ear seeds at the 'shen men' point.
Yeah I was told that mefenamic acid (or any NSAIDs) work best when you take them before the pain starts. But I don't get a period anymore due to taking desogestrel, so the pain isn't predictable. I never know when it night get bad sadly.
Hi there,I want to put this out there because you want to avoid side effects. Have you thought about getting a tens machine? There are loads out there but I personally use the myoovi. Obviously it's not a prescribed item (as far as I'm aware) but it does seem to work alot of the time.
I find it really useful to use with pain that comes out of nowhere and sometimes use it to kill the pain just to allow the painkillers to kick in. It's not fool proof but I have found it useful as it can be used on your back and front depending on preference.
Sorry your in so much pain and I hope your able to find a solution that works for you.
Hi, yes, I should have said. I've tried a tens machine but it doesn't work for me unfortunately 😔 I've got one that has two pads and I've tried them in all sorts of positions but no change!
Hi, I was on a combination of codeine and naproxen which I found really helpful most of the time. I stopped taking naproxen because of mouth ulcers but I believe this is quite uncommon. There's a dual capsule tablet you can get in boots that is codeine and ibuprofen in one which I also find does help aswell. I use these in combination with my tens machine/hot water bottle.
Hope you manage to find something that helps you soon.
