Hi all, this is my first post and I'd like to share my story and ask for advice. I'm 25 I've suffered with Endometriosis symptoms since I was 16. As I'm sure many of you will have felt, I doubted what was normal for several years. I had a miscarriage when I was 21. Then it got severe. I've battled with going to the GP for years out of fear I'd be told I was infertile, although at every doctors appointment I've ever had I've tried to broach it and was ignored. In December I had my first GP appointment, which gave me confidence I was being listened to but then this week I had my (telephone) referral with the gyno. She said they would arrange a scan, but she didn't want to do a larcroscopy as in her words most of the time nothing shows even if you do have it and it can cause further scarring and more pain, so they would treat me as diagnosed regardless. The end result was basically what seemed like a pathetic recommendation to take 600mg of ibuprofen or go on the pill.
I'm writing this in a brief moment of relief of pain as my period arrived. Im alone in isolation and video called my mum whilst I was in the worst of my pain earlier so I wasn't alone. I've never let her me like this before and her face was hearbroken. It feels worse this time knowing I finally spoke up and I feel fobbed off. If you've read this, then thank you very much. And if you can share any advice for what I can do when my GP gets in touch, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks, stay safe xx

So sorry for your struggling being fobbed off is common when you have this condition I’ve come to realise.i too have suffered a misscarrige but please know it Dosent mean you are infertile just that you have an underlying condition namely endometriosis and with treatment a laparoscopy you should become pregnant.please ask for a referral on the bsge list to an endometriosis specialist I’m so sorry you are alone in pain last year I had onset of symptoms where I could not walk I’ve got my pain under control now through diet and supplements for the time being anyway feel free to look at my posts most of my page is related to my endometriosis journey and some information is very helpful all the best my love x
I totally agree! I’ve read another post this morning, where a lady’s being fobbed off with rubbish pain meds. Anti-inflammatory’s can be great at providing pain relief for Endo, but there are other options in that group of meds that could be more effective than Ibuprofen.
Are there other hospitals in your area? I’d be inclined to ask the GP to refer you to a different hospital.
Please try not to worry about infertility. I know lots of women with Endo who have been able to have children.
Wishing you all the best, and I hope you feel better soon x
Yeah I had told her ibuprofen does nothing. I kind of just accepted she wasnt going to do anything. I'll definitely ask to be referred elsewhere, thanks both for the advice xx
