hoping someone might be able to give a little advice….

have recently had all my endo removed via surgery and just looking to see if anyone has had any success stories or advice for diet / eating / foods to help or prevent endo return - or slowing it down.

thanks.

I’m wondering the same as you! This isn’t proven anywhere but it appears endo is caused by a high level of estrogen in the body so you might want to do a urine hormone test from somewhere like get tested. Com and see if you have a high estrogen level. Then from there you can see how to manage the level naturally, there are lots of things to be mindful of: wheat, non organic dairy, plastics etc. read healing endometriosis naturally by Wendy laidlaw for more. I’ll be doing this method once I’ve had my lap too. Best of luck

Thanks for the reply.

I will have a look at the book - seen a few books but wasn’t sure if any good so will look up this one.

I had full bloods before op so would like to think if levels were high this would have been addressed or tested for ? Or is it only a urine sample test ?

Do you have a date for op ?

Thanks.

I’ve heard bloody tests aren’t as accutate in picking up hormonal imbalances like urine tests. Ridiculous the NHS doesn’t do these

and no date for the op yet 😭

also how was your surgery, do you feel better after?

I know things that trigger my endo/make it worse so I ensure I cut those things out however there isn’t any proof that changing your diet helps, I just know what I can and can’t tolerate, hope your operation went well

Thanks for reply - what kind of things do you cut out out of interested ? I’ve had a little look online but as you say there seems no proof.

It’s been 3 weeks so early days but pain / symptoms seem the same - but hoping will change with time.

I can only tolerate bread once a week, and say like an oven cooked meal once a week, I love pineapple, tomatoes and cucumber but unfortunately it sets my endo off badly, I try to have plenty of fresh meals/fruit & veg unfortunately there isn’t any proof as agreed by several sources/nutritionists & medical professionals that I’ve seen, hope your feeling okay x

sorry Joely21 but there is a lot of proof that diet works but you won’t find it on Wikipedia. You might think that Wikipedia is impartial but any fully referenced research showing that nutrition works gets removed - comes from being controlled but drug companies. Good fish oils help, and lots of other things have been shown to work with research backing but you need to look for research papers.

I’ve been following the endo spectrum on Instagram who trialed the AIP diet for endo, seemed to help a lot with the inflammation and pain!

Yes I see that anti inflammatory seems the way forward. Thanks.

I was told that surgery wasn't an option for my endo and didn't get on with hormone treatment, so looked into different ways to manage it. I found changing to an anti-inflammatory diet eventually made a big difference to my symptoms. We all react and respond to different things, but taking wheat out made a big difference to me, but it did take some time to get things to a better place. I've kept going with the anti-inflammatory diet and bits of homeopathy, pelvic physio etc for about 15 years now and touch wood haven't had to go back down the surgery or hormone meds route.
