Im 36 and am having my 2nd lap to remove endo in November. My consultant isn't sure if this will help my symptoms or not as I have adenomyosis. I'm going to try the coil but he has said that eventually I will need a hysterectomy. He did offer a hysterectomy but I don't feel ready for one.
My main issues with it are my pelvic floor, as after 2 vaginal births I feel like I'm finally strong again down there. I love running, although I only run once a week I really enjoy it and have finally stopped leaking when running.
Also sexual function or changes are something I'm really concerned about. Me and my husband are still very happy and in love and frequently intimate and I hate the thought of losing any desire or changes etc. I'm already getting a lot of pain after climaxing but not sure if that is worse than if I couldn't climax at all? So many thins to consider.
Has anyone had a hysterectomy and still managed to run etc? Obviously when fully recovered!

You'll need time but it shouldn't impact you getting back to sex/exercise. Just follow the pelvic floor exercises they give you!I was back playing netball within 16 weeks of hysterctomy.
Lots of women still run after a hysterectomy. Most women still orgasm and sexual desire can be helped with testosterone cream. If you've been on lots of hysterectomy sites you'll have scared yourself silly because a lot of women on there have not got hormones right or something went wrong. That's why they are on support pages. A hysterectomy is a big operation but it's very common too. I read everything prior to my operation and the positives outweighed the negatives. However they couldn't do it because they found stage 4 endometriosis which they weren't expecting and at 50 the endometriosis was so established and lesions were so thick that it needed a specialist endometriosis team with a bowel expert. Unfortunately this disease doesn't wait for us to make up our minds. It continue to grow and makes things worse. I WISH I'd had a hysterectomy in my early 40s but it was peri menopause that kicked everything off. If you have a hysterectomy now you can recover better as you are younger and you can get your hormones right. Peri menopause and endometriosis is no joke. I'm on zoladex now as I have fibroids too which are causing multiple issues. Do some reading of positive stories and talk to other women about their experiences. Good luck x
I have to say that i joined a group to fet good advice regarding hysterectomy as i was offered one. But i wouldn't have one unless it was a life or death situation to be honest. I have a friend wity endometriosis, she had a hysterectomy and it didn't maje it any better. I have adenomyosis too. But no way will i be having a hysterectomy.
After a laparoscopy made no difference to me, my consultant suggested a hysterectomy due to both endometriosis and adenomyosis.
I am 3 weeks post hysterectomy op and although not yet experienced any of those things you are concerned about yet, all I can say to you is I feel like a changed women! I feel so well, the best I have for many years. And apparently, I am nicer to be around! I feel at this point, I could do anything- run/ dance etc but obviously need to take it easy.
So for me, removing the continual pain and fatigue by having a hysterectomy is worth having the op.
My consultant has said everything should go back to normal after about 4-6 weeks.
If it is an option and will remove any of the endo and adeno symptoms you may suffer, it is worth a consideration.
Not really answered your question, but really to say it may change your life.
I'm almost 32 and I am on the fight to have a hysterectomy. (I have 3 kids, 1 vaginally and twins c section). I was refused a hysterectomy when I had my twins even though I begged.
Anyway, nearly 7 years later and I am in the most excruciating pain I have ever been in. So I am desperate for them to remove everything- take it all!
However, I just wanted to validate your concerns as the ONLY thing that I am worried about after a hysterectomy is being able to be intimate with my husband again. Currently the pain I am having is honestly preventing us from being intimate often and it's devastating. We are very much in love and the attraction is there and I would love nothing more than to be intimate with him. And yet sometimes the fear of the pain I get after and sometimes during puts me off honestly.
It is my hope that if I can have a hysterectomy (and have it removed not vaginally as I already have a c section scar) that I can do the pelvic floor exercises and finally be able to actually be regularly intimate.
Also- just wanted to congratulate you on running without peeing because honestly sometimes for me it just takes a serious laughing fit or a sneeze...
