hey!

I’m 10 weeks post op, I had a few complications, hematoma and infection, bowel issues too as they got endo off there but I’ve just had a scan and the hematoma is nearly gone.

I’ve still got pain, and the worst thing is, I can’t fit into my jeans pre op.

With my post op complications I had bad nausea so I’ve actually lost 20lb. Is swelling that bad normal at 10 weeks? And pain?

Google keeps saying everything should be fine after 6-8 but I know I had a bigger op than most hysterectomies.

I struggle with stairs still, have sharp pains and just general Lower abdominal pain all day.

Any help appreciated :)

Hey, I think we are roughly the same time post op - I’d recommend looking up the hysterectomy sisters UK group on FB if you’re on there as there are a lot of others in a similar position to you and can maybe provide some support. Swelly belly is definitely a thing and while mine has reduced since about week 7, it blew up again this weekend as I overdid it. That said, if you’re experiencing pain and swelling, and have had an infection already it it would be worth getting in touch with your GP or consultant to just check everything to make sure all is as expected?

Best of luck with recovery x

hun I have an infection last year after just a diagnostic lap where they could only do a cystectomy as I had frozen pelvis bowel involved as well. I got sepsis and I found it hard to sit up or get out of bed. I had a heamotoma under a incision and it was infected in all my tummy right to the abdominal wall and tissue and had a red area that had spread from a wound and an awful pus liquid came out. I was in hospital a week and my temp rocked up and I was literally freezing and asked for my blankets I then after inpatient stay had to take antibiotics for another two weeks and then they had to check my crp inflammation markers had come down as they were sky high . If your in a lot of pain seek out your gp as the lady said above just to check and for your own piece of mind. Thankfully my excision surgery back in June this year I got a kidney infection from irritation from the catheter I had for a day and night. But don’t get me wrong I was extremely worried I would get sepsis again thankfully I didn’t just trust your gut. If your struggling up stairs and walking hun I would get it checked out as when I had my infection my stomach swelled as well and the pain was awful it took about two months or so for that pain to go away. Take care
