Post hysterectomy advice

Need advice from anyone who’s had a total hysterectomy. I’m 5 1/2 weeks post op all done laparoscopically for endo and had adhesions removed from my bowel etc.

I didn’t bleed post op until day 10 and ended up back in hospital for 2 days due to infection. I’ve continue to bleed most days and have to wear a thick panty liner rather than a pad. My specialist nurse said it would stop by week 6 and any pains could be related to my bowels. I keep thinking yes I’ve stopped then I’d get a fresh bright red very small bleed again.

I’ve done fairly well until last week when I suddenly got so exhausted again but that’s easing.

Past few days I’ve had a lot of soreness in my belly and groin and taking painkillers again. I’m sure it’s nothing and I read about sutures dissolving and small bleeds happening.

Am I normal? I’m sure I’m over thinking it! I think I’m just desperate to stop all the period stuff I’m just fed up and stupidly expecting a new me!

Hi

I had full hysterectomy and stopped bleeding pretty quickly, within a week, generally brown blood. Red blood is sign of fresh issues/ infection. I would go back to Dr or ring the hospital. Take your temp if it is over 38 then it is a sign of infection.

At almost 2 weeks I had a horrendous bleed. I lost 3 litres of blood within a few hours, needless to say I was rushed to hospital, then rushed to surgery. It was bright red blood and huge clots, sorry for being so graphic.

It turns out my simple key hole hysterectomy, wasn't simple, over 5 hours and they had to open me up, due to bad bleed. They patched me, but from the bleed it pooled at surgery site and unfortunately opened up dramaticly.

Any how I would get yourself checked out immediately. Nothing is mentioned like that in post op notes of what to expect. Don't want to scare you, sorry xxx

Hi,

Do you mind me asking you what explaination they gave you for the clots & red blood please? Pro lapse? Granulation?

I was sent away like this and it lasted 3 weeks.

19 months later and a flight to the mainland UK to be told by a Specialist that I have a polyp'y area of painful tissue granulation that needs removed (painful intercourse) painful on him examining it though pain free around the polyp.

Thank you.

Oh no poor you. I may ask for an internal but maybe it’s too early to see? I had an internal and they couldn’t see anything. They scanned me & he said I must of had a collection of blood and when my sutures dissolved at my vault it all came away. They treated me for infection as it had been sat there so long.

The other lady I was a lot more serious.

Hi because of bleed I had in the hysterectomy, meant they opened me up. Although they stopped the bleed, the reminder of blood with the aid of gravity pooled at the new internal stitching and pooled, causing it to leak. Then infection got it in and unfortunately a very bad scary bleed happened. I was told it was extremely rare to have such an infection.

There were no prolapse or anything. They had to leave some endo around my bowels and places. It took a bit longer to heal due to being so anemic. I am very pleased I had it done, once I got over the operations.
