I have absolutely hated the coil. It’s made me so tired, overweight and possibly contributed to neurological problems I’m having. I’ve had it in for 9 months now after they inserted it during my laparoscopy. I’ve been trying to get it removed for nearly 2 months but that has been a nightmare because they couldn’t find it and now I need a hysteroscopy to get it out.
Ymmv. Some people find a hormonal coil really helps with bleeding and symptoms. I wasn't one of them, but if I went back in time I'd still try it again. I was mostly worried about insertion but compared to endo pain it was a walk in the park.
I have recently had a laparoscopy and had the coil fitted at the same time. So far (6weeks) it has been ok, although still spotting. Pain is less than it was previously but can't say if this is due to what they did in laparoscopy or down to the coil. From what I have heard, I would suggest asking if you can be put to sleep for it to be fitted
Hi, People's experiences of it vary hugely. I have to say i was anxious about getting it bc of the horror stories but I don't think you will know unless you try it ultimately. Everybody is different so i decided to try it for myself and if i wasnt getting on well then i could ask for it to be removed.
My experience is that I had it inserted in March this year whilst I was in for laparoscopic surgery. Personally it has helped the pain levels and reduced bleeding so I feel it has helped. It's worth saying it can take around 6 months for your body to settle/get used to it. Whist my periods are lighter, I am bleeding for longer (about 12 days) so this is something to consider but overall I think that is slowly getting better x
