Hi all,
I'm 28 and have had horrendous periods since my very first one. In fact I remember my mum warning me about them and to expect "a teaspoon - tablespoon of blood" - well you can imagine my horror at 12 to find my bed soaked!
Anyway, after years of issues at around 20 my faithful GP was convinced I had endo and has treated me as such. My Gyn did a lap a few years ago to remove cysts on my ovary and found adhesions/lesions in my uterus. When I went to a follow up with my GP, he said the surgeon had noted adhesions or lesions (I can't remember which!) which he said was typical of endo - especially as he treated my mum and this is how she started out with it. My Grandma also had endo and also had a hyresterectomy like my mum.
After years of trial and error on various treatments and pills, coils, implants etc we finally found Ovysmen worked to help minimise pain and periods. After a few years of back-to-back no breaks (as my Gyn had recommended I do), I started bleeding through in random episodes. In 2013 I had a positive smear which we think was due to Ovysmen however I was reluctant to change to something else as it was the only thing that worked. The doc removed a large area of cells in a colposcopy and that was that, few smears since then ad they've been clear.
A few months after this I found the "heavy" sensation was returning and occasionally sharp pains I associated with my first ovarian cyst but the heavy sensation I thought was from the colposcopy/cervical pain. I waited a year as I hoped it'd go away but in the end I dragged myself to the GP and had an ultrasound on Saturday. What I'm worried about is it was the same radiographer I had for my first ultrasound - I remember her as she was of Indian descent and sooo lovely, one of those rare people in the NHS that make you feel so relaxed . During my first ultrasound in 2008 whenever it was, she told me it was a cyst and estimated how big. Then said she'd send the results to my GP which took around 2-3 weeks etc etc.... This time however she didn't say anything when she started scanning, took a lot of pictures/stills whatever they're called of the right side and some of the left. Then asked to do a transvaginal scan and again did the same thing of some pictures/stills of the right side and the left. When she tilted the probe from right to left the pain was awful - I wasn't expecting it as I didn't remember it being painful at all in the one in 2008. She wouldn't say anything but only that I should ring up Monday (yesterday) and ask for an appointment with my GP this week and that she should have got the results back to them by Friday.
I'm trying not to worry but it's all I can think about. Last time the results took 2-3 weeks to get back to the GP so I'm worried that these are being fast-tracked. When she stepped out to let me undress I did try and peek at the scanner from the abdomen ultrasound but couldn't really make out what the pictures said really - I had a quick Google but I'm no radiographer so no idea what I'm looking at so stopped googling as it brings up all sorts so might as well wait. My only concern is that fast-tracked within 1-2 weeks is a cancer regime by the NHS as they have a rule that anything that might be cancer must be investigated/referred in between 1-2 weeks.
I have my appointment booked for Friday morning this week but wondered if anyone else had results fast-tracked and if so, what the results were if some people are willing to share? I am trying not to worry when you don't know if there's something to worry about but I also don't want to walk in assuming it'll be fine if it isn't (which I had turned up to the ultrasound thinking it would all be fine)
Thanks for any advice at all.
