this is a bit of a long one (sorry in advance) I was diagnosed last year through private care that I got with my work at the time. I was told that I was at high risk of ending up with a colostomy bag if I went for surgery, so they pushed for ‘medical management’.
My first gynae had already put me on Cerelle (progesterone only contraceptive 75mg) and the gynae surgeon said I could stay on this or switch to dienogest. As we know the flare ups switching can cause I stuck to the pill. Fast forward 8 months and the pill is making me feel like absolute crap, really low mood, no sex drive and still having pains.
I talked to my nhs doctor who said it would be fine to put me on dienogest but it would be better to do so in the new GP (I was moving to wales) so they could monitor it. My new GP despite all the letters and actually having the diagnostic reports etc with the specialits approving dienogest as a treatment option said she wouldn’t prescribe dienogest unless I was referred to gynaecology here which might take MONTHS. I’ve been off work and in constant pain - bedbound on and off for weeks and now I’m just supposed to wait until I can be referred to get any treatment for something I’m already diagnosed with?? I called this doctors 5 days in a row chasing and explaining the severity of my pain and nothing? Surely this is a flaw in the system! I’m so frustrated at the lack of empathy and care! They’re just happy to fob it off because they don’t usually prescribe it, instead of looking it up and trying to help?! We shouldn’t have to fight this hard!! I’m exhausted and just feel a bit at a loss.
