I had a lot of really supportive posts after my last one so I’m diving in again.
My consultant has recommended I go on Provera (10mg twice a day) until I have a hysterectomy at some point in the next year. I’d be on it permanently, so no breaks.
I stupidly googled (because apparently I’m a sucker for punishment) and the « clean out » sounds terrifying.
Has anyone been on it? Does it stop bleeding or do you bleed while on it? I’ve not stopped bleeding completely post hysteroscopy and my anemia is in full swing again.
Any experiences appreciated - it’s just so hard to try to find any kind of accurate information!
Thank you

Hi I was put on provera while im waiting surgery (same dose) 6 weeks ago so I haven't been on it very long - I also did the dreaded Google search and wish I hadn't!In my situation I've been bleeding daily for coming up to 6 months and I was told it would stop this but I haven't seen any change yet. I did question it last week but was told to keep taking it for atleast 3 months and and give it time to work... on the plus I haven't noticed any worse bleeding either.
Few side effects I believe from taking it have been bloated stomach, increased dizziness and headache.
From what I've read it seems to be mixed reviews, some people it seems to help really well and others not so much. Best thing to do is to give it a go and keep an eye on your symptoms and hopefully it helps you.
Hello 👋💖 I was on provera for a few months, it stopped my bleeding immediately whilst I was on it. I had no pain at all too. But I got terrible mood swings and felt bloated and it was just making me feel so angry all the time I had to go off it 😭😂
hey, i have been on this recently but only temporarily to stop my period for going on holiday, i took it 3 times a day. I had no symptoms whilst on it and if anything felt better than usual, the only thing is a few days later im getting a withdrawal bleed which is making me crampy. Hope this helps in some way! I was terrified to take it and my doctor seemed hesitant to prescribe it but its worth a try
