Bowel preparation

So i just been told i need another laparoscopy to remove endo i had my last lap in October to remove cysts but they did not remove the endo as I’m told today 🙄. The cyst was stuck to my bowel and when it was burnt of it has cause puckering? I’m having bowel prep. Never had this. The consultant said I would be in one night, i was surprised that its not longer as it involves my bowel? So my question is

1: how did bowel prep go for you?

2: how long did you stay in?

3: any advice on what or what not to do when going through bowel prep? Thank you

It’s ok it tastes grim so I mix with squash. Don’t go too far as when it kicks in you go ‘loads’. Keep drinking fluids as you will need it. Have light diet for post op as you will feel delicate but you will find heavy stuff will make you feel excessively uncomfortable

Hi, I haven’t had any endo surgery (diagnosed last week), but I’ve had a few colonoscopies and hence bowel prep. Generally best to do a low residue diet for a day or so before starting the prep to ensure it clears things out. Not the nicest tasting stuff - prep is the worst part of a colonoscopy. Buy some wet wipes as well to avoid a red, raw, sore backside. :)

Thank you for the information the consultant said i would need to fast for 3 days before lap while having the drink and to chew gum after surgery to get the bowl stimulated. Is he trying to put me off or is it really no eating for 3 days i was wondering 3 days without food then going in for a lap wont it knock the *rap out of me? He made it sound like i would be up an out the next day 🥴 i only say this as my last lap i only had 2 cysts removed and i was told 1 night it ended up being 4 an i was begging to go home

Thats interesting yes he said bowel prep was only fluid for 3 days i think i will have to ask my doctor im sure he was trying to put me of having the op thats the vibe i was getting from him he was dismissing my symptoms like it was nothing even through he had the pictures of the damage bowel in front of him.

For the bowel prep, follow the instructions given to you about eating a very low fibre diet 3 days before. This will make it much much easier when you have the bowel prep. I've had the bowel prep with and without the 3 day low fibre diet, and without the diet it was horrendous. With the diet it was manageable.

I was told I would stay in one night but they ended up keeping me in 3 nights. It just depends on how it goes and how you are feeling.

I was going to be discharged the night of the op as there were no beds after having endo removed from the bowls. I can't comment about the prep as it doesn't make me to to the toilet. Had it twice and failed to do anything other than cause sicknesses and cramp. Medical staff don't believe me when I say it doesn't work
