Urology appointment - Flexible Cystoscopy

Hi all

Has anyone been referred to urology for a flexi cystoscopy that turned out fine?

I have been having symptoms since November and eventually the GP said it could be Endometriosis and put me on the mini pill and iron tablets (also have mild anemia). However after follow up urine test, I have been urgently referred to urology due to +++ blood in urine.

Scared because the referral says suspected cancer.

Did anyone have to do this where it came back ok? Would love to hear your experience as I have to wait 2 weeks for my appointment and can’t deal with the anxiety

Hiya.

Went well today! It was quite quick once they started and I asked to look at the screen.

Thankfully my bladder is all clear but I am being scheduled in for a CT scan just to make sure Kidneys are also ok. The urologist said it’s to rule out everything thing else before discharging me to the Gynae.

That is Spooky! I am in the same situation in terms of blood in urine on 2 occasions and low ferretin levels. The doc referred me and told me to expect a letter. 2 weeks cancer pathway. I was slightly concerned. He rang today to say report back from urology and long story short highly unlikely to be anything of concern but will have an ultrasound because of the iron levels. Only real way to check is through a cystoscopy but the waiting list is 12 months on the nhs and its up to me as the risks are very low. He said potentially after all that it could come back normal and more likely to be related to diabetes or heart issues. I also have endometriosis and googled it and quite common. So sounds like it's all precautionary to rule it out but in my case and due to pressure on nhs not a high risk percentage wise.

Hope that helps.

12 months is crazy long, I was told the same when I first got referred to a GYN.

Thank you for responding. Weird to say but it does help to hear others on the same boat where it turned out ok. Will see how it goes tomorrow x
