Prostap and Tibolone

Hello everyone, just wanted some advice, started Prostap and tibolone on Monday and since then have felt like I've been hit by a bus ( headache, nausea, fatigue, body aches, ovary pain etc) and I can honestly say I have never felt so emotional in my life! It's like the worst PMS on steroids, I am literally crying at nothing. Haven't managed to get out of bed for the last two days, but tried to go in to work today and managed 1 whole hour, before the pain became too much and I burst into tears and was sent home ( I teach at a university so couldn't really do this while crying uncontrollably). What I wanted to know is 1) has anyone else experience this? ( Is it normal etc??) And 2) when will it end?? TIA 💛

Oh you poor thing. Apparently it does settle. Give it some time. Be kind to yourself. Sending hugs x

Thanks so much! Just wanted to know I'm not going mad or having a bad reaction to the meds! Hopefully it will calm down, I just think I didn't expect it to be so bad!

I’m really sorry that you’re going through that. I reacted really badly to Prostap and Tibolone. I was bleeding continuously for the 5 months that I was on Prostap and 2 months on Tibolone. I ended up in hospital a couple of times and I needed an iron infusion. I was very ill and in the end I came off it and my consultant agreed for me to come off Prostap and Tibolone. I felt so much better off it and it was only then that I realised how ill it had made me feel. Speak to your consultant and see if there’s an alternative.

Thanks MaiDu, Im sorry you went through that! Thankfully I have no bleeding currently, but I'm on progesterone to overlap for 2 weeks so that's probably why? I will definitely take your advice and speak with my consultant if it doesn't calm down!

Oh my god that sounds terrible. Do you know why you were bleeding; it's designed to stop bleeding altogether. Zoladex is my only option Spon so I'm praying I don't respond like this. How are you now?

I have no idea why I was bleeding but I assume my body must have reacted adversely to both Prostap and Tibolone. I feel loads better since coming off both. The bleeding is settled and my normal cycle has returned, though it’s a bit longer. All the body aches and insomnia have gone as well. I will never go back on either medications though so I don’t know what other options I have.

Hello Shellbell

I had my first injection on Monday too and started Tibolone too. I can’t sleep since Monday with heavy bleeding. But emotionally I’m okay. Please I want to know does the injection stopped your bleeding?

Hi Dlpak, I have been on progesterone for 6 weeks and was told to overlap for 2 weeks after starting the Prostap to initially stop excessive bleeding and now to make sure there is no rebound bleeds, so unfortunately I can be of any help with bleeding 😞 I have seen some other posts that mentioned bleeding, so might be worth having a look for those! Good luck 💛

Hi I started prostap and tibolone a week ago and my body aches. It's been hard getting to sleep, but once I'm asleep I stay asleep. I am very cautious about continuing with the tibolone as I've read it's a synthetic hormone. I've also been getting these weird sensations in my chest and pain down my left arm but I'm obviously not having a heart attack, so must be muscular pain. Feeling anxious because of it.

Hi 👋 sorry you are having such a rubbish time! I have felt exactly the same with the aches! Hopefully it starts to calm down soon 🤞
