Excision surgery

Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask if anyone has undergone excision surgery and what was your experience pre and Post excision surgery?

I was going to undergo this surgery but when the second pre consent was read out to me I did not consent to one of the additional procedures. I consented to everything else and completely understand the risks. However, I did not consent to damping salpingectomy bilateral as per year prior my dye tests revealed patent fallopian tubes so I couldn’t understand why cutting of the tubes would be considered as an option. With my first consent the Doctor had discussed the potential of cutting just one because the disease I have is on one side of my body only not on both. And that’s what I had agreed to. However, the morning of the surgery one of the Doctors mentioned that the additional surgery was bilateral meaning both tubes and that’s not what I had discussed with the surgeon prior. They kept showing me how I had signed thr consent, which I did. However, I signed after the surgeon read the consent to me I did not read it myself. There was no talk of removing both tubes. I’ve now been told I have to have an MRI scan. If my fallopian tubes appear patent again why would that surgery have to be added as a possible option? The endometriosis tissue I have is more towards my colon and risks for that were explained and I fully understood.

I appreciate any feedback if you’ve had this experience xo

On my consent forms there was something around taking out my appendix but only if they found endo on it. But the thing that worried me more was that I was given three options for what they might need to do on my bowels depending on the severity of disease there. My surgeon did assure me that it’s unlikely that they would do any of the more invasive options but I still had to consent to all of them so that they can get rid of all endo in one go.

But in your case there was an inconsistency in what the surgeon and the consent form said which is so odd. Do you have any endo on the fallopian tubes at all? Definitely worth reading everything before signing though. Having said that the morning of my surgery I had the worst migraine and for a long time I’d forgotten some of the things I signed then until a nurse reminded me.

Hopefully they handle things better in the future because they’re wasting your time and their time this way.
