so I’m 5 days past what was meant to be a “simple” hysterectomy. Oh no, 6 1:2 hrs and emergency surgery later to fit a stoma here I am in hospital with multiple drains etc and in agony. My head is in a mess. Has anyone had this happen!? I can’t get my head round dealing with the stoma bag cleaning and changing etc, I don’t want to see it, if I don’t do it I can’t go home. Help.

I’m so sorry this has happened to you, my mum had a stoma fitted after surgery for chrohns disease and it took her a long time to accept it. Hers wasn’t reversible. She did get lots of help though from the stoma nurses. Sending hugs

I had a stoma fitted a few years ago due to endo stage 4 and IVF gone wrong on my first round... it was reversed in Summer 2022. It is awful to begin with, but honestly it isn't so bad. Life changes of course... but you adapt. I'm really sorry that this has happened to you. Did they say why they needed to put the stoma in? Is it temp or perm? You will have a dedicated stoma nurse to help. Sending lots of love.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. That's good that it's reversible in 6 months. Yeah, I found the stoma nurses were really good. Takes time to get used to emptying the bag and such. But you will be a pro in no time!

Hi, I saw this and thought that it must have been your bowel stuck to your cervix. Exactly the same thing happened to me but they didn't separate it. They said the scar lesions were quite old and the surgeon admitted that it was beyond his skill set. So in one way you're lucky that they did it at all! I cannot imagine how you felt waking up with a stoma bag you poor thing. With me they've said I could end up with one that might not be reversible so I'm not willing to take the risk. Good luck and stay positive. I still have fibroids and flooding whereas your hysterectomy has happened despite this complication and you will get your head around it and heal. Sending hugs x
