My daughter is going to be put on this drug for uterine fibroids and potential endometriosis for a period of 7 months and then we'll have surgery for hysterectomy. She is very concerned about the side effects of this medication and I'm wondering if anyone on here has had experience using this medication and is willing to share positive and negative information. Thank you.

I was going to say I don’t recommend it for anyone who is younger but to be honest, I don’t recommend it at all. Those types of drugs are horrible, even with HRT. I had all the symptoms under the sun and despite it being almost 3 years since the last one, I still have hot flushes and my teeth are ruined. Definitely do plenty of research before deciding.

Two answers to my post and both sound horrific. Do you know of safer alternatives? Sadly, these fibroids should have been caught 5 years ago in a CT scan she had done and she has been having problems for years, but It was a discovery she made herself, palpating her gut and feeling one of the fibroid tumors that took her to urgent care where she had another CT scan done. This one showed a drastic difference from the one 5 years prior, when this all should have been addressed. They focused on one other thing and never even acknowledged the fibroids. Now, she's in misery.

This drug ruined my teeth. I took it in the late 1990s while it was experimental and there was no access to the internet and doctors didn't know what side effects would be and we trusted they knew best. This is no longer the case. There are pages on FB dedicated to this drug's survivors, which I consider myself to be. Please research the original intent of this drug, why the drug was developed and how much money and emotional therapy your daughter is willing to put into her teeth and mouth. I wish I could go back and heal my body without surgeries and this nightmare medication. All the best to you and your daughter.

I take contraceptive as that’s the only thing that has stopped me from bleeding. Plus a baginal bioidentical progesterone nightly. I’ve been o this combo for 8 years. Fibroids have just now started to grow a bit though they are still small. Just waiting for menopause.
