hello!

I have recently been diagnosed with severe pelvic endometriosis after years of fighting.

My diagnosis was given to me by post 5 days after I was discharged following an ex lap and womb ablation! I have since had an mri and am awaiting a sigmoidoscopy.

The consultants are being very vague and I am struggling to get straight answers from them regarding exactly where the endometriosis is and best next steps.

The current consultant is keen to do a hysterectomy and leave one ovary (large cyst on other ovary) and I am aware there is endometriosis on my bowel so that will be treated during the same operation.

I understand a hysterectomy is not a cure and as it’s a big operation I want to find out more regarding their reasons for pushing for this option but they’re not being very forthcoming.

I have submitted an access request so that I can try and find out where my endometriosis is from my notes and imaging.

Has anyone had this operation and found it has helped with the pain?

What was the recovery like?

Any ideas as to how to get the answers I’m asking for?!

thanks for reading!
