hi all, looking for some advice - I have suspected endo awaiting laparoscopy and have had symptoms for around 8 years. I’ve noticed bloating has been worse in the past year & it’s getting to the point where I’m so bloated and uncomfortable I’m getting stretch marks on my stomach. Has anyone else had this? And if so any tips for helping with endo bloat? I don’t seem to have specific triggers so hard to know how to manage it. Thank you x
bloating : hi all, looking for some advice... - Endometriosis UK
bloating
They are pretty certain I have Adenomyosis and this is one of the worst symptoms. I tried peppermint oil, which really helped but I had an allergic reaction (very rare). I'd be interested in any other tips too. It is horrible 😢
I have been taking turmeric and black pepper capsules and have noticed some improvement. Also, keeping a log of food / activities that seem to cause a flare and trying to avoid those! Also, a bit of light exercises when bloated actually does make a huge difference. I found this very hard to do in the first year of struggling with it but it definitely helps.
Hi
I was in a similar situation at the beginning of the year. My doctor recommended to start an anti inflammatory diet which should be supervise by a nutritionist as it can vary person to person. In my case I removed gluten, milk and cow protein (meat, cheese, yougurt). It is also very important to follow an overall healthy diet (no processed food, eating veggies, fibre, protein etc) It made a huge difference to me. My belly started to look flat again. Hope this helps. Good luck
Hey lovely just wanted to say I absolutely feel you and understand. I’ve suffered for bloating for the last 10 years and even though all my other problems are awful it’s the one symptom that really affects me mentally.
Also I’m in the same position of you!! Suspected Endo and got my first lap in October.
Now a days I’m bloated 24/7 and it gets worse as the day goes on. Tbh I’ve tried lots of things in the past but whilst I’m waiting for surgery I’m just accepting it and after surgery I think I’ll look into an anti inflammatory diet but i have trialled cutting out dairy, gluten etc in the past with no success but willing to try again. I am like you, I feel like there is no specific trigger either.
My key thing is just wearing clothes that are 1 comfortable and 2 flattering. I can never ever wear tight clothes, I genuinely look 7 months pregnant half of the time and have been told I look it once🤦🏽♀️
The type of clothes I love are nice dresses that are tight on the bust and flare down, leggings and oversized tees etc, peplum tops with stretchy jeans. It’s frustrating not wearing what you want but you can make it work!
I do like peppermint tea that helps slightly so sorry I don’t have anything else that will help, for me I just think I’ll crack on, get surgery, find out where I’m at and go from there!! Feel like once we get a diagnosis might be able to get more help around easing symptoms Xxx
The bloating can be so painful. I found lots of peppermint tea useful and trying to do some gentle movement when you can. I also found an anti-inflammatory diet really helped my symptoms along with trying to work out if particular foods make your bloating worse - initially for me I found veg like cabbage and broccoli made it worse as well as chickpeas.
