Hi everyone,

I've got terrible lower back/pelvic pain and wondered if anyone had experience of going to an osteopath for endometriosis? Esp in London. Did it help? Did they have a particular understanding of endo? Thanks v much.

I went to an osteopath who made my back and pelvic pain much worse. A good physio is a much safer bet. I had terrible back pain with my period and couldn't get much help but I went for an MRI and I had extremely bad adenomysiosis and stage 4 endo. The endo was growing along my sciatic ligaments I had a big op and had the endo excised, the pain is about 90 percent less since then.

From my personal experience I would say be very wary of osteopaths and chiropractors. All the qualified doctors and physios I spoke to said it is not a properly regulated industry and that there is no scientific evidence behind it.I didn't realise this when I went for my "treatment" and it made my pain radically worse. Be careful.

Hi Potts22, I'm sorry to hear you are in such pain. Completely debilitating. I had seen an osteo for lower back pain and was good for me but this was before endo diagnosis. In recent times, when the pain and fatigue has got really bad I have had accupuncture. Whilst it does not fix the issue it did give me some relief and sometime for a week or longer.

Good luck whatever you choose.

I also find accupuncture helpful.

Hi Potts22, I was seeing a really good osteopath in London earlier this year due to severe lower back pain, after seeing a not-so-good osteo and a chiropractor previously. In my experience, it's very hit and miss but you also pay for what you get. My work supported me at the time with the good osteo, which was the only way I could see him. I paid for a couple of appointments myself after work stopped paying but then had to stop as my circumstances changed. I think the last appt I had was a few weeks after my second trans-vaginal ultrasound and when the suspected endo diagnosis was first mentioned, and he said it explains a lot of why my back pain wasn't completely improving and it linked up quite a few of my symptoms. I would really like to go back to him but can't afford to at the mo. He always used to do some acupuncture at the same time and I found it did ease some of the pain long-term. Happy to send you the details if you're still on the hunt. Hope you find a way to manage the pain.

Thanks so much. I've just started with someone new, but would love the details if possible for the future.
