Hi lovely ladies, I finally have my lap appointment next week. I am scared, hoping I might get some answers but worried they won’t find anything and I will be back to square one!
I have terrible ovulation it lasts a week, severe pelvic pain, diarrhoea constipation, painful bowel/ bladder when using toilet, painful sex and rectal bleeding always mid cycle and on my period, leg pain and pain before my period which lasts a week after my period so all in all rubbish!! Had a colonoscopy a couple of years ago which was clear and diagnosed IBS.
I have already signed to have the mirena coil fitted but hearing a few bad experiences thinking I might just stick to the mini pill which I have only been taking for a month, I also have PCOS confirmed with ultrasound. I am 44 so can’t take combined pill- Can I opt out and would I have to tell the hospital before my procedure or on the day ? Any mirena coil positive or negative experiences shared would be really appreciated- Thank you and all the best xx

I know it doesn’t work for everyone but my experience with it is that it completely changed my life. Literally gave me my life back. I’ve had it for ten years now and it’s the best decision I ever made. x
Hi thank you for your reply- I did try the copper coil years ago but I couldn’t get on with it. That’s brilliant that it has helped you so much, all the best x
Id go for it, you can always have it removed if you dont get along with it. It is painful to have put in and i wished id had mine done when i had my laparoscopy! Also give it time. The forst 6 months it didn't change anything for me but now at almost a year i have pushed back my total hysterectomy surgery because i have minimal bleeding and the pain is only when i have my period and it goes with normal meds. Nothing like before. Good luck with your surgery x
