I’ve had an MRI to check for adenomyosis and deep infiltrating endometriosis. Can anyone explain the findings to me please?
I have a lot of problems with my bowels, rectal bleeding and constipation, mucus stools etc. mid cycle I cannot open my bowels for around a week and then have frequent mucus stools. I have constant left sided pain which ranges from tolerable to completely agonising. It’s getting considerably worse as time goes on. I am awaiting a hysterectomy but suspect I do have rectovaginal endo and bowel endo that hasn’t been picked up as it’s not deep infiltrating. I also have dense bowel adhesions which were found during my last lap.
anyone else had a similar mri? What was the outcome at your lap?
I would really like to see a bowel specialist but this hasn’t been offered to me, just gynae. Can anyone tell me how I go about getting to a bowel specialist and indeed if you feel it’s a reasonable request? I have had a colonoscopy last year which was considered ‘normal’ despite white areas throughout my bowel the biopsies didn’t show anything.
thank you xx

I am waiting for a full hysterectomy and have been on Prostap/Zoladex for over a year now and since starting this second round of treatment I have suffered with my bowels at first I put it down to side effects to the injection but then things started to get worse and I noticed a lot of mucus I have been to gp who has asked for more tests a bowel cancer screening and calprotecting I’m not sure if I pass blood it looks to have blood in there but on inspection with a cotton bud u can’t see any.
I had a pelvic MRI 2 years ago and it came back clear but my consultant did say it doesn’t always show Adenomyosis she suspects it because the back of my womb is much thicker than the front
I had surgery to removed a cyst and endo 5 years ago but nothing improved since and it’s just been a case of trying every medication to see which one I can tolerate.
Just wondering if you have had any luck finding out some answers, my gyne nurse said she can’t refer me to gastro but my gp will once the test results come back and if they show anything!
