Zoladex & Dienogest
Not sure what zoladex is but I had bowel endo and am on dienogest and it completely stopped my periods after 3 months continuously taking everyday, and my surgeon said it helps prevent regrowth of endo also so in his opinion its the ideal pill option. I haven't noticed any side effects to it either. Hope it gets sorted out for you okay x
Thank you for your reply. I've been on dienogest for 6 months+ and haven't bled at all till recently and the pain is getting worse and worse I'm not sure if it's not working as it should anymore or keep going and see if it improves I also have an implant just find it weird the sudden change. Hope your okay too ☺️x
I've had 16 Zoladex injections and at first they were great, however for the last 3 months pain has increased although still not as bad as before plus Ive been bleeding for over a week now. Ive had the usual side effects hot flushes etc am also on HRT. Xxx
Our bodies must just get used to it and stop working maybe that's why I'm constantly changing my hormones to keep up with it. Even with the dienogest i get hot flushes bad sleep irritability and bad moods I've found a natural menoherb tablet I'm going to try and see if that helps the side effects. My surgeon said I'm pretty close to getting a surgery date by the end of May and he doesn't want to swap anything hormonally till after that. Im stuck lol. Thank you for your reply and I hope the injections start working properly soon x
I'm due to go in for surgery next week, I've agreed for them to do a coil as I really want to come of the HRT and pill now aswell. Hoping that with the surgery and removal of any adhesions that it will kinda reset my body if that makes sense. Just so tired of it all. Xx
I hope it helps it's horrible relying on all this stuff to get by everyday. I've been off work two days nothing more that can be done till my surgery whenever that is gets really quite overwhelming sometimes just want to get through the next two days working xx
I was offered it too but was worried menopause symptoms would send me loopy. I opted for conservative management via a merina coil ie just stopping my periods and a follow up mri to check nothing was progressing. I’m not in pain even though it’s widespread so surgery isn’t a must for me. I think it might depend on how serious it is really…
I'm so glad your symptoms aren't too bothersome I think I'd avoid surgery even with severe endo if it wasn't bothering me lol. The mirena worked for me but It didn't feel comfortable because the back of my womb is attached to my bowel and I think that lack of movement is an issue for it sitting comfortably which is a shame. My surgeon said I just really need My surgery now to get a real impact on it.
Hi Had my laparoscopy in Dubai last 2018 because of my Fibroids Removal but since 2021 Til then i suffered severe pain in my right abdominal. I regret i had my laparoscopy . If you have a chance ask your Dr what would be the side effect of laparoscopy in the future?
Great advise it's a big decision to make having a laparoscopy but I think everyone gets to a point where endo takes over your life and you have to have the surgery. There's all sorts of risks involved in the surgery but no one knows how you'll feel the other side we just have to hope we all feel better after recovery. I cant imagine how I'd feel if I felt worse after surgery and its sad you've had to carry on in further pain. I hope you find out why you've got this pain and get it sorted soon thank you for your reply and feel better soon 😊
I’m due to have zoladex too, I have been putting it off because of the horror stories but after speaking at length with my GP and my gynaecologist I think the risks of staying on norethindrone are worse, I’m hoping to have a hysterectomy this year, I have endometriosis sticking my bowel to my uterus and adenomyosis.
I've put it off for too long now my surgeon told me yesterday it's too late to change as I'm getting a date for surgery soon maybe I'll try it after. There's been loads of stories and the amount of hormone management and HRT. It would scare me especially at my age of 22. I hope you get the relief you need soon sounds very painful x
Zoladex has been the worst decision of my life. I heard great things about it reducing pain so when my consultant offered it to me I welcomed it. However I have been on it for nearly 3 months and my pain is so severe that I have been in hospital for pain management and am now on 4 hourly oral morphine, a slow release pain patch and anti inflammatories. Still, I am in considerable pain.
I have dense bowel adhesions but my mri shows no bowel endo. Despite this I bleed rectally a few days before my period and suffer terribly with constant constipation before my period and then have urgent loose movements mid cycle. Since the Zoladex I am severely constipated, I’ve just been 5 days without any movement, after 6 sachets of laxido, 3 enemas, senna and a suppository I opened my bowels. It’s been another 6 days and I have not opened them again. I wonder if my bowel issues are hormone related and my body is all over the place so I can’t go… I would advise you to research the side effects and really look at the pros and cons.
I am due my third injection next week but really do not want it and am waiting for my consultant to reply to a message I left last week - hopefully offering me an alternative to this awful drug!
